Correct on a technicality, the Devon verbosity I believe, suggested Nick should not have his contract renewed (days before it was extended) at the end of the season.
As tends to be, @chris has it right. Dev offered a conjecture as to the likelihood that Freeman would be resigned, based, as I recall, on the amount of playing time he had had. It was an objective opinion that neither involved negative judgements about the player nor expressed a view as to whether he should be resigned.
He was not in a minority of one to think the eventuality a conceivable one.

Gareth didn't follow Dev's advice on that!
Dev never advised releasing Freeman.

There was no should about it. DevC was saying he thought it unlikely that Freeman’s contract would be renewed, which of course turned out to be wrong.
No he didn't, he said it probably wouldn't be
He was pretty much in a minority of one to hold this view
What’s the difference between ‘probably wouldn’t be’ and ‘unlikely’?

@chris I wasn't replying to you
Fair enough.
