Our pitch will be the death of us
Not a good performance today and the hoodoo on non-Saturday home matches continues. But however well we play you cannot play good football on that cabbage patch of a pitch. It is an utter disgrace. The only way to practise for home games is on on a Tarmac school playground. The bounce is tidiculous and it's like playing on concrete. Whilst we try to attack and score at home I think the solution is to play 4-5-1 and flood the midfield. We were exposed time and time again today. Our away form is incredible but Adams Park is hardly a fortress.
Again, a good crowd turns up and Wycombe blow it. Now we have to go to the Pirelli Stadium on Monday and turn them over. Such a pity we can't play decent football at home but there's no chance with that pitch. Although some people would object, playing on a 3G pitch would be a massive improvement on the dire surface we have to play on at the moment. Such a pity after all the effort the players have put in this season. I hope massive numbers turn up at Burton on Monday to cheer us on to a victory!

The state of the pitch was a surprise to me as well, it hardly looks well cared for and doesn't seemed to have been mowed, if at all, since the last game, lots of tufts of grass everywhere and still compacted and rock hard. Apparently it's at the end of it 'Desso' life and needs replacing....not with a 3G or a Vodaphone pitch, but proper lovely grass, like we used to play on in the old days. I feel sorry for the players having to play on that heap, and the rugby apes were with us just long enough to completely knacker it for the rest of the season. Where the money is going to come from to replace it is anyone's guess.
Having been on the pitch several years ago to distribute some sort of award to a player, I thought then that the surface seemed tough.
I would like to see us play on a new-style artificial pitch. The quality of football we'd get would improve massively.
Anybody who saw Burton's last match either live or on TV knows that their pitch looked more like the trenches in a world war scene than a nice pitch. The rain was pouring down and at one point looked like the game could have been abandoned. So I do not think that we will see free flowing football from either side on Monday
I'm sure it will have recovered after a week of little rain. And there will be no problem returning to our free-flowing best.
The desso pitch was at the end of its life 5yrs ago!
Mr Rob & Mr Worboys - and unfortunately we can't afford a new one - or a 3G pitch either. Cheapest option is re-seeding/new turf.. as per the fans forum comments.
