Support needed for local football
League Two might not be the pinnacle of the footballing pyramid yet every week at a much lower level endless volunteers help to keep the smaller clubs alive and playing football.
Without these dedicated people the wider game wouldn't be nearly as strong as it is currently in this country. That is why I would urge you to pop along to one or two local games per season, pay your £5 or £6 to get in and just give a boost to these unsung heroes who keep the game going.
Two matches in August immediately come to mind as they don't conflict with Wycombe games. The FA Cup actually starts on the same day as Wycombe start in the league v Lincoln. Flackwell Heath have brought forward their FA Cup-tie with Burnham to the Friday evening. Kick-off is 7.45 at Wilks Park. Perhaps WWFC could invite the players & officials of both clubs as guests to the Lincoln game? A chance to foster local relations etc.
On Tuesday 15th August Holmer Green take on Berkhamsted k.o. 7.45pm in a Spartan South Midlands Premier Division game. It would be great if lots of Wycombe fans could turn up and boost the gate for a club that often doesn't see that many in attendance.
And much later in the season (Dec 23rd) Chesham United host Hereford FC in the Southern League Premier Division.
