Not certain but The Chequers Pub on the sharp bend opposite the old NatWest bank was turned into a Chinese. Failing that there was one very near the roundabout at the end of Missenden high St. That maybe a Costa now, if not it's very close to that?

@EwanHoosaami Cheers Ewan, turns out the Chequers has gone back to pub food and the one in Missenden is a Costa.
@wingnut Thanks. I'll tell these old folks to give that a try, hopefully won't be too cold as must be 20 minutes away.
Yes, that might be a problem. There is a Thai restarant there:- http://www.sukhothai-restaurant.co.uk/ It says they do deliveries.
@wingnut thanks again, looks worth a go
What about Soya Oriental at Hazelemere crossroads. Takeaway only, but the Malaysian fried rice is to die for especially if lathered in sweet chilli sauce! Also, very filling. TBF you wouldn't need much else?
Not in Prestwood but 'China Express' (127 Main Rd, Naphill, High Wycombe HP14 4SA
Phone: 01494 564393) is pretty good.
Soya is nice but got a 1 * hygiene rating recently according to the BFP. So did the Mowchak.
Literally to die! for after their recent disclosure of poor hygiene rating..
Soya is first rate. As for Woodward and Bernstein at the BFP that is the most recycled article ever. Can't wait til Don't Eat Here at Easter, Don't Eat Here for Christmas etc
@ValleyWanderer cheers, will find out if they deliver.
It's hard enough for independent local restaurants/takeaways as it is without the BFP and their lazy hatchet jobs.
Just for the record, Soya Oriental received a food hygiene rating of zero (urgent action required) from WDC in December. You have to try pretty hard to achieve that. You are free to ignore of you wish or do not think food hygiene is important.

Lists of 5 or 10 maybe, but 40 or 50? The BFP might as well just say eat in a chain restaurant or else.

Sorry we're up to 60 now for this year:

It's a fairly useful thing for local newspapers to be reporting isn't it? I'm sure the negative publicity helps to drive up food safety standards. Just because it's boilerplate reporting doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.
Its a useful thing to report properly on. But this is trash.
I find it throwaway. There's no context. The ratings aren't explained. The premises that have received low ratings before are treated exactly the same as those featured for the first time.
It's just a photo gallery of 57, (or 58 or 60, they state all three on the same article) - almost like its a laugh, and not people's livelihoods that they are impacting upon.
If their standards were good enough they wouldn't be in the list.
First time I've ever needed @DevC and his shades of grey.
But yeah let's leave it there
Its odd, Peter.
Most issues have a degree of complexity and I see shades of grey. On many of those you (perhaps increasingly?) only see black or white.
This issue seems a black or white one to me. If you allow your standards in your eating establishment to slip so far that you are given a 1 or a zero rating, the public is entitled to know. Cant see any shades of grey at all.
Fair enough Dev
@sandsexile sounds interesting, but that might require journalism or at least writing an article, rather than a photo gallery.
Well with the exception of some ropey chicken shops the list on the BFP website is pretty much my go to food outlets of choice.
As a man of a certain age like many on the Gasroom Arthur's has built me up with an powerful resistance to food bourne issues.
Good for you, Andy.
@TheAndyGrahamFanClub good point. Those of us of a certain era, that have survived chewing lead filled paint, playing footie in skins most days during the school hols, eaten at take away vans where even the rats were puking below, can surely survive meats chopped with a knife that has cut cheese as well. Let's be honest, I've had plenty of food from Dougies van where the menu was easy to discover, it was mostly on his apron!
The best kebab van in wycombe at terriers used to be there for 8 hours most days. It was many years later and many kebabs later I pondered where the staff washrooms were.
If that's the same one I went to 30years ago he had whole chillis on the "counter". Excellent
That'd kill off any bugs.
I ate a cockroach after scoring a hat trick against Holmer Green in 98
Was that Dennis' kebab van in Bridge Street car park per chance?
