Other football this week-end

Unfortunately the way the calendar has fallen this year means there's fewer other matches to see locally when Wycombe aren't playing. With the game at Cheltenham on Friday evening, apart from the Isthmian League + one National League game there's very little on the Saturday (New Year's Eve).

The Isthmian League has a full fixture list but it tends to be based to the East and South of London. In the National League Boreham Wood host Martin Allen's Eastleigh on Saturday but beware two things. Firstly it's a 1pm kick-off. Secondly it's a minimum of £18 (eighteen) to get in - even to stand up. This ludicrous price increase this season has seen gates drop for what is still Non-League football.

On Sunday at 3pm there's the prospect of a top game at York Road as Maidenhead United entertain Wealdstone in the National League South. It's a shame the Southern League isn't being played on Sunday as Slough entertain Chesham on Monday. Had the game been played on Sunday it would have given Wycombe fans who are interested the chance to see their new ground (+ 3G pitch).

Comments

  • £18 to watch non league football is truly shocking.

  • Only ten quid to get in at Maidenhead on Sunday. Looks a good one as Wealdstone ended Maidenhead's nineteen game unbeaten run on Boxing Day, and this is the "reverse fixture" as it were.
