Cheltenham away/car sharing
Will be going to this match with my 12 year old lad. Anyone would like a lift, ( I have a 7 seater if needed), feel free to ask. I live in the Widmer End area & would anticipate leaving circa 11.30-12.00 to allow plenty of time to travel and eat. Don't plan on hanging around too long after the game.

You know it's a 7.45pm kick off on the Friday evening?
If you are leaving at that time to eat iv been told "The Gianni" is the place to eat in Cheltenham and to book in advance
@Vital I didn't realise, tbh didn't consider to check. One heck of a meal to allow that much time. Offer still stands though, maybe leave 16.30-17.00 then?
Gianni is good but I would recommend 'Bella Italia' as a better Italian IMO. For Indian - Spice Lodge or Spice Exchange. If you prefer a pub then Sandford Park Alehouse or 'The Strand' two doors down. (I work in Cheltenham)...
@tewkesburychairboy Thanks pal. Probably look out for the pub if it's just me and the lad.
@EwanHoosaami - website for Ale House is here - http://www.spalehouse.co.uk/ - easy to find, not too far from ground.
@StrongestTeam wasn't the fixture originally scheduled for 3pm on Sat 31st? I'm sure someone can clarify...
It was definitely moved.
Between us and Cheltenham we clearly looked to take an advantage on other clubs playing 2 in 3.
Good thinking, but not great for fans. It is a fairly close trip though.
As if the fixtures people would put a game on a Friday night at league 2 level that isn't being shown on tv!
I do the route from Oxford to Cheltenham quite a lot (only once on foot) & I'd leave before 4.30/5pm if I were you. Rush hour round Oxford is dreadful at that time as is the A40 between Oxford & Witney. 3.45 would be an ideal start time -or even earlier if you want a meal in central Cheltenham I wouldn't leave much after 3pm.
@A_Worboys about right I'd say. Planning on picking up @bill_stickers circa 16.00 from Thame. Should be enough time to grab a cheapy Weatherspoons meal before the game?
Is this offer still available mate? Do you have space for two 17 year olds? If so, how much do you reckon the petrol cost will be?
Thanks.
@WanderingDays yes, got room for two more. Minimal cost for fuel as it's will be split 3 ways if you come?
Got 1 seat left. Have sent you a pm
Pleased to report that all 7 seats in my car have now been taken. Se some of you there tonight. COYBs!
did they all turn up @EwanHoosaami ?
Indeed they did. Took a bit of rescheduling after a few sms exchanges, purely for geographical locations. Strictly speaking it was me that was tasked with "turning up" being the driver, (apologies for the pedantry), all three pick up points were successful thanks and on time.
We did however not end up in any of the suggested eateries, choosing, unanimously, to go to The Moon Under the Water pub, a Weatherspoons pub, as it was suitable to the group budget/taste.
@EwanHoosaami The Moon Under Water is a fine public house and one I frequent at least twice a week...
I'm intrigued to know what you drive @EwanHoosaami, in order to seat 7 adults on such a long trip.
@drcongo A Seat Alhambra, also packaged as a Ford Galaxy or VW Sharan.
Ah. Useful.
I also have in my small collection of fossil fuelled vehicles a Yamaha TDM 900cc which I use most home games. Should the Alhambra become unavailable, I can suggest this as an alternative?

Please do keep us posted on any future seat vacancies, perhaps in the carpool thread.
@Onlooker You don't fancy the motorcycle option then? :-)
LOL - Missed that when you posted it @EwanHoosaami
