Not quite a repeat of Tuesday but very tidy performance. Gave Exeter nothing, created a few half chances and then a great tactical change to grab the points. Never thought a player of Bayo's physique could turn like that. Hard to pick a MOTM as no one was outstanding but everyone did their job. Hopefully confidence is up and we get no more injuries.
Interesting how we stuck with that tactic of over loading down the right wing first half. Although it didn't lead to many clear cut openings, we had plenty of territory and penned Exeter back.
We also made use of the fact that they refused to press in the first half by retaining the ball between Blackman, Pierre and Stewart while the remaining players got forward. A lot of the time it looked like Blackman playing like a quarter back, launching one play after another.
In the end I thought we deserved a narrow win, but against a defence that played deep we struggled a little bit to create clear cut chances.
Reid looked overweight and not the same handful he was a couple of seasons ago.

It is hard to believe what you see with Bayo. It shouldn't work but it does. Ground that win out. Onwards and hopefully upwards.
The team has a nice shape to it, though I wonder if it's maybe expecting a little too much for Thompson to play two full matches down the right wing in a week. I thought he should have been subbed for Kashket after 65 mins when he stopped being able to reach the ball first, with PCH going down the right. But what do I know? Instead Akinfenwa came on and proved to be a far more inspired sub!
It was nice to see Blackman get so involved in distribution in the first half, lots of clever passes out. That stopped at half time when we went more long ball, and it left Gape in particular with little to do. If we're to persist in playing over the midfield it will be good when O'Nien is fit again as he's much better at scurrying about and getting stuck in. Rowe had a good match protecting the back four and showing some good touches... apart from the near rugby tackle on the half way line which surely should have been a red if he'd connected properly.
This may sound a Monsoonism but Exeter didn't deserve anything on Saturday from the moment they ran out of the tunnel in that ghastly lime green dayglo kit. Why red and white stripes would not have sufficed is beyond me. And a Trust-owned club?
It is vitally important that people stand up for traditions and values. The next round of messing with the FA Cup will shortly be upon us with an attempt to move the 4th & 5th rounds to midweek and scrap replays. And all for the sake of appeasing the overpaid and over-rated English Premier League.
Agreed Mr Plant, ive noticed this happen a fair bit in the last few years, where a keepers shirts has clashed with either their own side or the opposition. This never happened years ago when keepers wore predominantly green or the occassional yellow shirt ? Is this just incompetance by the officials ? judging by the linesman who flagged for offside from a throw in on Saturday before the ref after a fair bit of persuasion gave a drop ball, it may well be.
To add insult to injury the drop-ball then resulted in us having to surrender possession to Exeter, while we had been on the attack from the "offending" throw-in. Incompetence indeed.
I actually pointed out to Richard Dobson the very close call on the keepers green to his team mates as the players trotted out. Dobbo hadn't noticed till then, but comically, the ref was more concerned that the officials' black kit would clash the WW blue quarters! I feared then that an inept display was on its' way. Apart from the oddity of the throw-in debacle, I thought the officials were not too bad on the whole.

Barring injuries if there are any no changes should be made from Tuesday's starting XI.
If there is an injury it's bound to be Paris. Scott Kashket would be his replacement IMHO.
No changes PCH fit to play, great news!
shhhhhhhhh another 3 points, nice one Beastie
And hopefully another 3 points at Yeovil next week.
i suppose you could tell we'd won by the sheer lack of posts on here!
Must admit i'd totally forgotten about Southwell!
Very comfortable that he plays a very distinct third fiddle to Paris and Kashket
Add O Nien in especially, and we'll be in tidy shape.

from a ref who was exceptionally lenient, I doubt there would have been a red today under any circumstances.
He allowed their winger to smash his elbow into JJ's face without even any semblance of telling off, and it took ages for the first booking

Borderline Beast.
Not exactly a thriller but then Exeter came with 10 men behind the ball all game. Decent 2nd half from us and a deserved win.

Furthermore, allowing their keeper to wear green as well was not great for those fans with colour blindness

I've been to hundreds of games, and that was the first time I have ever seen that. It was quite extraordinary

Seeing their goalie's traditional green kit was like being back in the 80s.
