Slough Town kick-off at their new ground on Bank Holiday Monday.

The folly of Football League games midweek in December and February is only matched by the lack of games on August Bank Holiday Monday. Fortunately, Non-League football is more enlightened and a full programme takes place in the Southern League (all 3pm kick-offs).

For one club, Slough Town, it's a very special occasion. For their home match v Hayes and Yeading (who've also just moved into their new ground) Slough are playing their first match at their new Arbour Park ground. Situation on the North side of the town on Stoke Road (SL2 5AY) the game is all ticket with a 1,950 present capacity. I'd be amazed if there's a spare ticket left by Sunday afternoon. It marks the end of years of ground-sharing at Windsor and Beaconsfield SYCOB.

There is also the small matter of an Aylesbury derby on Monday as Aylesbury FC host Aylesbury United. Another interesting fixture is surprise package Kings Langley (two promotions in two seasons) entertaining Chesham United at their small Herts ground (WD4 8BS). It could provide their biggest-ever league crowd. Chalfont St Peter also entertain Barton Rovers in the Central Division. Some very good games there to whet the appetite!

  • 27-08-2016 : SOLD OUT: Slough Town v Hayes & Yeading United
All tickets for Slough Town Football Club’s homecoming match against Hayes & Yeading United on Bank Holiday Monday have SOLD OUT.

  • Slough beat Hayes & Yeading 2-1 in front of an official attendance of 1,401.

  • So I could have got in. Suspect Hazlemere Fete was more enjoyable though.
