Objection. The question is who is the best blues player, not who was the best blues player. To the best of my knowledge, Messrs Waters and Johnson are no longer with us.
I think that answers your question @WycombeWanderersFB.
Guy Mitchell must be in with a shout. Not that he did shout (as in blues shouter) but he is on record of course as never having felt more like singing the blues. 100-1 outsider.
No I don't @WycombeWanderersFB.
Thought I'd indulge our friend @Onlooker.
Tell me, how do you feel about the responses so far? Who are your favourite blues men (or women)?

Bit early for this? Come back in October
If you must.
Nigel Taylor
My vote goes to Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson a close second
Can't argue with that.

Still Muddy Waters for me.
Actually the question is: who is 'Who'? Apparently he is our best player. Or a bloody good blues musician
I'm not sure I'd class The Who as blues. There's definitely blues influences in there, but I'd put them more in a straight rock category.
John Lee Hooker.

Has no-one mentioned Blind Lemon Jefferson? Technically dead but (or course) the legend lives on. Plus it's the best name ever.
Looking forward to @WycombeWanderersFB announcing the winner from this sublime shortlist...
King Biscuit Boy is my fav name for a bluesman.
You missed Ainsworth from the list.
Too bloody true. Have you never heard him? Hope he never gives up the day job!
To be fair, @Rolo only said that once.
This bloke lives in the same village as me and has won a bunch of blues awards: http://www.aynsleylister.co.uk
