Couldn't go to Newport today as I was taking my son to an open day at Keele Uni. We took the opportunity to check out the local football at Port Vale who just happened to be playing Col U.

In summary, Port Vale looked pretty good and it was nice to see Anthony Grant playing well; on the other hand I can see why Col U are likely to get relegated :-)

The atmosphere was pretty flat though. Virtually no singing, no drummer - the Col U supporters were making more noise all two of them. Still turned out to be a better afternoon that a trip down to Newport would have been

    I'm friends with a Crewe fan who says that he feels both they and Col U have ridden their luck in League One for far too long, and that they are both staring down the barrel of an almost inevitable relegation this year.
