Leicester Tottenham charter train

See that some train companies seem a little more acomodating than Chiltern trains

  • I doubt that anyone tried to charter a train (i.e. pay for it).

  • Hardly a fair comparison is it?

  • Oooh the days of a football special. I can almost taste the McEwans

Not quite sure why it's not...but not really important.

  • Now there's a thread in the making. Wycombe football specials....

  • Oh yes !!

  • Well that does bring back memories. The special train I went to Doncaster on in March 1955 for the Amateur Cup Semi Final was hauled by two Western region "Manor" class locos. They caused a lot of excitement when we paused in Leicester station. The number collectors were delighted to see such rare engines on their territory.
There was another occasion when a special went from Wycombe to Reading for the Berks and Bucks Final at Elm Park. Not very likely today!
