BFP are at it again.....

With the shocking grammar in their latest sporting headline for WWFC. I really am getting tired of this lazy poorly written tosh covering our team, they are an embarrassment.

Latest headline reads - 'ALL I COULD HERE WAS THE CROWD SHOUTING AT ME TO SHOOT'

Embarrassing

  • I bet you checked that posting several times! What astounds me is the incorrect use of 'there' and 'their' not only in posts on here but generally. This is such a basic use of correct English.

    were ? only kidding.

  • Fedup1980, at least we can depend on your use of our language. I will be keeping an eye on your future posts to ensure I can aspire to your perfection.

  • Content matters more than spelling.

  • I agree Chris.

  • Actually, if we're picking holes in grammar, Fedup1980 needs a comma between lazy' andpoorly written', and a semi-colon between team' andthey are an embarrassment," rather than a comma.

    You're welcome.

  • wow, seems to be a huge BFP love fest going on here. My grammar may not be up to scratch but luckily for me I am not a Professional Journalist where errors like that should not exist and if they do, then a quick check of their work would pick up on that. I expect errors like that from a school kid but not from a newspaper.

but if everyone is happy to over look such matters then so be it

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are essential in IT/Website/Marketing business (I guess any business these days), a lot of my peers say it's an instant turn-off for them, regarding that company or brand.

BFP are not doing themselves any service.

  • Agreed, it doesn't matter if people on social media or on forums are happy to not be corrected on their grammar but for a professional publication is farcical. Let us not forget that they even wrote a match report against Halifax with the wrong scoreline a few weeks ago, it's very poor to say the least to not even double check your work before publication.

  • Sadly this is a result of paying journalists £12,000 a year and not using sub-editors. As has become common in the media profession.

@fedup1980, thanks buddy, I just laughed out, a mouthful of coffee over my keyboard, when I read this bit "match report against Halifax with the wrong scoreline". I'm still laughing.

  • You seem to have missed one Mr Hoover.
The header "BFP are at it again....."
Only three dots in an ellipsis not five...

    you're welcome.

  • err... thanks

  • And one r in 'er'.

  • ... but, to err is human.

  • And I forgive him.

  • You see, these lessons could be best directed at the BFP. I am just a tool on a laptop

  • Actually, @fedup1980 got it wrong as early as his subject line. A newspaper, just like any business or corporation, is referred to in conjunction with a singular verb - i.e. "BFP is at it again" rather than "BFP are at it again". The most common exceptions to this rule are political parties and football teams. "Labour are at it again" etc.

  • Pedants fucking corner here today isn't it!?

  • Ah it makes it fell just like home...
