  • I'm not really sure what to think about all the recent PR about all the things the share issue has funded.
I thought the issue was to provide working capital to allow the club to make good decisions on the movements of players rather than having to sell or not buy based on needing cash for day to day problems. I never thought of it as a fund for new projects and I'm not sure it was ever advertised as such.
Surely this extra spending is not getting us closer to breaking even not matter where the cash has come from? If I'm being over simplistic then maybe someone can fill in the gaps for me.
As things stand these announcements are not making me think about joining the share scheme. I don't really see why this funding should be used to fix the big screen if I'm honest.

  • Buying the machine means we don't have to keep sending players for specialist treatment so we save money and fixing the big screen to be able to sell advertising on it and make money. Seems pretty obvious to me using the share money to both make money and cut costs down sounds like a good idea to me.

  • And also, when this scheme launched I remember plenty of people saying that there were lots of better causes to donate to than a footballer's back pocket. These updates are clearly designed to show the tangible benefits to the club from the money, and although it hasn't worked on you, I'm sure it will help to convince others that the money will be put to good use.

Sometimes it feels like the club are damned if they do and damned if they don't re. comms with supporters, and I'm pleased in this case they're choosing to adopt this approach.

  • From the information to date, I think the club are spending the share money in an appropriate manner. I am surprised RITM can't see this.

The only other use for the share money I would support, would be to facilitate the reintroduction of the youth acadamy, but I appreciate this would need vast increases in contributions to the share scheme.

  • Er...we ahve a small squad so medical equipment is a good investment...or am I missing something? I agree spending money on the pitch, the medical equipment and the screen makes us look less like a team on the skids. Surely that is a good thing? Even the ball boys look like they are working at a club rather than slopping about in their baggy grey sweatpants for a fiver like they used to. The club cannot win...where's the money being spent eh eh eh? Here. What are you spending it on that for eh eh eh?

  • All seems perfectly above board and commendable to me. I'm very glad that my modest investment is being put towards such projects. A proper use of "working capital". Seems that most people see it that way. Don't forget that, after the official business has been dealt with at the OWWSA AGM on Thursday, there will be a Q and A session with Gareth Ainsworth and Andrew Howard. Non-members of OWWSA are I believe welcome to attend.

  • Buying essential equipment; fixing important things from which we derive revenue - all eminently sensible. Apart from the argument as to whether non-contributors have a moral right to question expenditure I wonder if Righty, when referring to "breaking even" really meant "paying down debt".

  • From page 5 of the share offer brochure (available at http://www.wycombewandererstrust.com/share-offer):

"This community share offer is a key part of that journey. With a
£500k injection of money we can make progress much faster,
dealing with the legacy issues we inherited and putting us
on the front foot to make better use of the fantastic facility
at Adams Park. Raising more than that will give us the chance
to spend money on opportunities that either reduce our
costs or where there is a clear business case, to raise income."

I think that covers what they've done, and I think it's a great idea to use the money for those little extras that might otherwise have to go by the wayside because of the lack of funds. It's like if/when I'm fortunate to get a bonus at work - it gets spent on a 'treat' for me/the family, rather than being swallowed up by the household bills...

  • Perfectly happy with what they're spending it on so far. Hope a few more people join in if they can afford it.

  • Happy with the way my investment is being spent, and good communication from the club. You can't please everybody all the time, but you hope to please the majority, most of the time.

  • you will never please some people on here, I for one don't want that money going on players wages !!

  • How about club shop worker wages?
