Lingfield vs Bexhil United (Sussex Div 1) - My local village team, and they have a few extra things going on for non-league day, so off to show my support.
As my son and I won't now be on our way home from Bristol, we'll be joining the other half of our family to spend the evening watching Leicester Riders vs. Glasgow Rocks in the BBL (Basketball).
A change of sport and a definite change of pace. Whereas watching League Two football you can often spend a couple of minutes looking around and chatting and not miss a lot, if you take your eyes of these guys for a couple of seconds you will have missed something. They get 24 seconds from taking possession of the ball to score, otherwise possesion is handed to the other team. It certainly keeps the ball moving.
If I can sneak out in the afternoon, I might try to see Barwell vs. Kings Lynn Town in the FA Cup, which looks to be the pick of the matches that are relatively local to me.
Didcot Town v Eastbourne Town in the F.A Cup, Diddy have sort of become my second team if you like, Mother-in-law lives nearby so while the wife is visiting and the mighty blues are away try and keep everyone happy.
Were I not otherwise engaged then Becky SYCOB v Royston may have some appeal. Southern Div 1 Central always interesting from a local perspective. The mighty Chalfont St. Peter have got off to a blistering start. Hopefully they won't fade badly as they have done in recent years.
Went to support Rugby Town at Brackley in the FA Cup as my late father was born and bred in Rugby and often talked of his local team.
Brackley are two divisions higher than Rugby but you wouldn't have noticed.
0-0 at half time with no real clear-cut chances.
Second-half was a different matter...
Brackley awarded a penalty after the Rugby keeper was deemed to have fouled an on-rushing forward in a one-on-one - a bit like Ugwu v Northampton. Debatable.
Keeper escapes with a yellow card and saves the penalty!
An almost identical breakaway at the other end gives the visitors the lead when the Brackley keeper's attempted clearance rebounds off Rugby's Callum Powell and into the net.
Five minutes later Rugby were unlucky not to make it two when striker David Kolodynski's exquisite lob comes back off the crossbar.
Ref adds 8 minutes stoppage time, and in the last one, Brackley equalise when a corner isn't cleared and the ball breaks to Steve Diggin who makes up for missing the penalty by lashing it into the net.
Final score 1-1
Attendance 409
Heartbreaking for a noisy contingent from Rugby, but at least they get a another bite at the cherry.
Will never forget the 5-1 thrashing VS Rugby gave us in the FA cup at Loakes Park in 1986. Their striker Steve Norris ran amok with his pace that day . I think he grabbed four. Norris went onto become a prolific scorer in the bottom runs of the FL.
A slightly disappointing game in front of a subdued crowd of 707. Having lost the influential Jordan Parkes to Ebbsfleet, Hemel haven't quite hit the heights of last year. Yet it was Hemel who took the lead on 27 minutes via a crisp shot from skipper James Potton.
Boasting a team with several ex-Football League players including Craig Eastmond and Craig McAllister, Sutton struggled to carve out any chances. Ex-Wanderer Dan Fitchett struggled with very poor service.
Manager Paul Doswell must have ripped into Sutton at half-time as they picked up their game in the second-hand half and equalised with a rising shot from Ross Stearn.
A draw was probably a fair result mainly as neither deserved really to win. So it's a replay at Gander Green Lane on Monday (a strange decision when Lithuania v England is live on TV). One strange point was Hemel sub being booked while warming up for slowly returning the ball to the keeper with Hemel leading 1-0.
No real surprise here really, Didcot play step 4 while Eastbourne step 5. Diddy struck after two minutes and never really looked back, 2-0 at HT, Eastbourne pulled a goal back with a thunderous strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the area about the 75th minute but were undone by pushing too many forward looking for the equaliser conceding two late goals. Entertaing game and the ref was anomyous which is rare these days. Enjoyable afternoon's entertainment.
Whitehawk, with Sergio now team captain, Nick Arnold, Sam Deering and David Martin to name but a few of their ex-League players, scored after two minutes and equalised with two minutes of added time remaining, both through Danny Mills (now scored 13 for the season).
Attendance was 410 (not many Gosport supporters) with terrific noise from the Whitehawk supporters. There were 6 drums, a cornet, a pair of maracas and an air raid siren used to add to the atmosphere!! Also, every time Whitehawk had a corner the "Hawks" supporters behind the goal would hold up their keys and jangle them!! Some chants not very imaginative though - "The referee's a referee" and "We are Whitehawk...from Whitehawk".
An entertaining game from start to finish, Whitehawk play very good football under Steve King and should be at least in the National League South Play Offs at the end of the season.
Well worth a visit to the Enclosed Ground if you are ever in Brighton.
I also attended Whitehawk v Gosport Borough and also met Sergios wife and daughters. Sergio looked a class above at times...
Great noise from the home supporters and I hope they win the replay on Tuesday.

Newcastle Town v Kidsgrove Athletic. Big local derby
Hastings United v Poole Town in the FA Cup
Local clubs Chesham and Maidenhead Utd both progressed in the FA cup.

@A_Worboys
Didn't realise Eastmond played for Sutton.
Quite surprising as I thought he oozed quality when we had him on loan.

Opted for Barnet vs Accrington in league two. Wasn't too bad a game.

Did you bump into former WWFC secretary Keith Allen now he's involved with Gosport?
If so, is it true that he wears a wig?
anyone else going slough v chesham tonight
