Surely "sell on clauses" come into play when a player is sold. So, it's a no then.
The reference is actually to contractual payment stages (add ons) and not sell on clauses. So if he plays x amount of first team games we get a further payment of y. If he gets U21 or senior caps whilst with Liverpool then we get further payments.
The sell on clause is probably a percentage of the profit of any future transfer (say 10%).
