Supporter Anthony Mooney has sadly passed away
Taken from the Trust website (posted 5/8/15)
It is with sadness that we report the death this week of long time Wanderers supporter, season ticket holder, legacy trust member and hard working volunteer, Anthony Mooney.
Here’s a picture of Anthony and Gareth from the end of season bash a few years ago when we were celebrating our promotion.
Anthony had been a valuable member of the volunteer force, supervised by John Derben, often giving up his time to work around the stadium including helping with the seat cleaning last year.
His brother David Mooney has advised us that:
“Anthony has not been well. I think it was just before we were cleaning seats last year when he was diagnosed as having what they believed was a benign tumour in his neck. Unfortunately when it was removed they discovered that in fact it wasn’t benign and had spread. There was little they could do and sadly he passed away yesterday at his home. I saw him the night before he died and updated him on all the Wycombe pre-season news.
He did manage to get to the play-off final, it was just sad the team didn’t quite manage to give him the send off that we were hoping for. Wycombe Wanderers had a special place in his heart and some of my best memories will be of the times we shared at football (even cleaning seats and weeding).”

Volunteers like Anthony are the lifeblood of a club like Wycombe Wanderers. RIP and hopefully you'll be able to look down on an even better season for us this year

David has put it very accurately. Although not everybody will know him, his was a certainly a face you would recognize both home and away and at around 6'4", not somebody you would easily miss. A great guy, a great Wycombe supporter and somebody who we will all miss terribly over the coming seasons.
That is very sad news indeed. It would appear that the team are giving him the performance I no doubt he would wish for. RIP

Thanks BSE for posting that. Following game from afar today trying to listen to player. Normally would have been texting each other as the goals went in. A little thing that brings it home how much i will miss you. And you would have been so chuffed at such a good start. RIP Ant.
So sad
