Man of the Match season standings 32 / 46
I am sure that the emotional rollercoaster of the past two weeks has been sorely exacerbated by the time that has elapsed since one of these updates. You may now all move away from the edge of your seats.
Total votes:
- Scowen - 323
- Wing - 211
- Mehmeti - 203
- Mawson - 191
- Stryjek - 165
Votes per start (minimum 10 starts):
- Scowen - 14.68
- Mawson - 9.55
- Freeman - 7.92
- Mehmeti - 7.81
- Wing & Forino - 7.54
MOTM awards:
- Scowen - 5
- Wing - 5
- Mawson - 5
- Mehmeti - 3
- Stryjek - 3
- Forino - 3
In short, Scowen is running away with it (aside from total awards), and with Mehmeti and Mawson sadly departed, looks pretty much uncatchable in the first two rankings. Can he beat his records of 417 votes and 11.58 per start from last season?

Re: Thank you Gaz and Dobbo
Thank you Gareth.
I was just starting university when your Wycombe era started, having only just begun to go along to games from the 2009 season onwards.
You’ve been a huge part of my life ever since, without me even knowing you on a personal level!
In the days where I was too anxious to go out and party during freshers, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days where I was bored in lectures and my mind wondered to my team on football manager, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days where I met my girlfriend (now wife) in my final year in Oxford, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days where I yearned for the nostalgia of childhood and struggled to adapt to adulthood, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days I started my first ever full-time job, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days I stressed to buy my first house, making sure it was close enough to Wycombe for me to still come along every other week, you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days where I struggled to train my new puppy (now a happy 5 year old dog), you were there as Wycombe manager.
In the days where my son was born prematurely and had to live in hospital for the first month of his life, you were there as Wycombe manager.
Thank you Gareth for being a constant in an ever-changing world over the last 12 years. You are and will always be one of the most important men in my life, and the impact you’ve had on me will never be forgotten.
We want you to stay, Gareth Ainsworth!
Talks are presumably ongoing and I want Gareth to make the best decision for himself and his family.
However if talks are still continuing I guess the outcome is not decided. I would be sad if anyone casually dropping into the Gasroom gained the impression from our discussions of 'what if .....' that we didn't care about the result.
So I just want to say, unreservedly, clearly and as loud as I can on here:

Re: Match day thread: Port Vale
In 2008 I went to a Bowie gig at the end of his career. It was a small venue abroad so wasn't hard to get in. I was happy to have seen the great man live and would have taken that as a great life moment.
But then I went for a piss and the legend came and took a piss next to me. He looked me in the eye and said "You won't know what this means now right...but you will one day."
He then started singing "It's a staaaar man playing on the right...his name is Brandon Hanlan..and he's f@cking dynamite"
Now I do.

Re: PNL spot-fixing investigation
On the subject of Oxford, can we all just wait until we have had all three sides of the story?
Man of the Match Season Update 25/46
The leaders in the three categories:
Overall Votes:
- Mawson - 191
- Mehmeti - 168
- Stryjek - 152
- Scowen - 138
- Wing - 135
- Wheeler - 131
Votes per start (minimum 10 starts):
- Mawson - 9.55
- Wheeler - 9.35
- Scowen - 9.20
- Freeman - 8.18
- Stryjek - 7.32
- Mehmeti - 7.00
MOTM Awards:
- Mawson - 5
- Wing - 4
- Stryjek - 3
- Forino - 3
- Mehmeti - 2
- Wheeler - 2
Mawson remains the leader in all three categories even with the time out, and is my favourite currently for Player of the Season. There are some fantastic candidates though, with Wheeler making serious strides recently to make the top 6 in overall votes and be 2nd in votes per start. Wing has had several MOTM performances, second only to Alfie, while Scowen, Stryjek and Mehmeti are consistent in their excellence.
Final thought: Scowen won last season's categories with 417 votes, 11.58 votes per start and 8 MOTM awards. It is going to take some going for anyone to top that! The nearest challenger for votes was Vokes with 249.
