Re: Stockdale
John has had some health setbacks in recent years including two replacement hip operations, but remains as cheerful and optimistic as ever. He still lives in the area and retains a great affection for our club. The players absolutely loved his coaching sessions and were very fond of him as a person. He’s a big fan of Gareth and constantly says what a great job he is doing. He’d be so pleased to know that he is still regarded with such affection.
Re: Match day thread: Burton
It's funny what some people think is luck.
Grimmer, Dickinson, Wheeler and others playing above your expectation but as the manager said they would is not due to training hard and well at all?
A feature of the friendlies was hearing the manager and coaches constantly shouting positional info and encouragement. Some on here despite having talked of training ground ownership for years don't seem to realise we have one and use it.
The players converted into new positions, the formation chosen and the playing style again not accidents. Being better than the opposition the same. People saying we are lucky that the early fixtures are some of the weaker ones but not acknowledging that maybe having any bearing in hanging on for the players that we can't attract now but may come available soon.
He's mugged people off here today, spent sod all money yet again and delivered a famous win.
Yep, we might get battered next week, we have before but I've been watching with varying levels of interest for a couple of decades now and our previous managers didn't dig out players out of nowhere to get promotions in style with this frequency.
Re: Match day thread: Burton
Well a bit of an embarrassing afternoon for some Gasroomers.
Predicted fallback excuses of Burton being shit already being deployed.
After 10 years you might just try trusting the fucking manager, even if only until the first match of the season has started.
Re: Not Football
No, I tried to paste a previous post relevant to @MorrisItal_ ’s strange comments but I realise now that the only thing I can ever copy and paste is the completed Wordle whatsit. It was obviously still stored somewhere in the clouds and at that time of night I couldn’t be arsed to delete it.
i’d had one of the happiest days of my life yesterday, driving 55 miles around Amersham, Aylesbury and Thame area (with a lovely Thai lunch in Thaime (!)) in preparation for a forthcoming trip to the South Coast - the furthest I’ll have driven for a couple of years. When we got home mrs micra said (unexpectedly) “you did really well”. The day was a great boost to my mental health.
Re: Other Football
I really don't think it's a good idea to speculate on identity of an individual accused of a very serious offence but currently granted anonymity for legal reasons.
Re: Adams Park capacity increase
We really do need to start re-imagining town/city centres both in terms of increasing residential accommodation above retail/office premises as well as enhancing the social & leisure offering.
Putting a 12,500 all seater stadium close to the centre of town should not be considere daft any more, the traffic is dealt with by providing electric shuttle buses to & from park & ride near the motorway junctions, coupled with the relative proximity to the station.
The question of a flood plain is interesting as there is no reason not to build it raised above the high water mark, perhaps "on stilts" the space under the stadium can be used for many things or left as a "sacrificial space" when the river floods. Regarding concrete FGRFC managed to build an "eco-stadium" which limited its use of concrete, employed "green" energy etc. so being an examplar to the wider community is not out of the question either
Re: Adams Park capacity increase
I've told you, nationalise private school grounds and build it at Wycombe Abbey.
The oligarchs' daughters can have their lacrosse tournaments elsewhere
Re: Adams Park capacity increase
1) You continue that stream of consciousness that has got you into so much trouble previously.
2) The usual suspects extrapolate based on nothing but their need to contribute to the thread even though their track record on ownership questions is ropey at best .
3) Hyberbole reaches a crescendo.
4) Nothing happens
5) @micra criticises me quite justifiably on my awful grammar and punctuation .
6) We sign someone called Tom Wagcock and they change the flavours of the crisps at the kiosks.
7) We all move on.
Re: David Stockdale
The treatment Stuart Beavon got from a sizeable minority of our goons up at Burton still stands out as one of the most embarrassing Wycombe moments.
