Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
I’m going to live up to my nom de plume. As a spectacle today was certainly disappointing, but if Wrexham fail to win tomorrow it will mean that none of the top 6 have collected 3 points this weekend. Those being hyper critical just imagine how fans of Stockport, Huddersfield and Orient will be feeling. There could be plenty of games like this on the run in and let’s not forget that we have become very hard to beat which is a good omen. Wigan have conceded just 31 goals in 32 games so that was always going to be a difficult game.
Re: Man of the Match - Wigan (H)
As someone who has rooted for Jasper from one of his earliest performances - that match at Fratton Park in which Pompey stole a point from us with a foul on Max at a corner in added time - I was delighted to see him back and in a game where nobody really stood out, I’m pleased to give him my vote.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
Only saw the last ten minutes of the match. Mostly pointless long ball (had hoped we'd moved on from that - but if that is going to remain a weapon in our locker, surely we should be making sure Sam Vokes is in the squad?
I am verging on being disappointed in Mike Dodds - he has so much talent at his disposal, we shouldn't ever set up to beat Wigan by the odd goal. I want cavalier, sexy football. We have the players for that, now let's see it consistently.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
Dull game but a word about the Wigan ‘fans’. my son works the turnstiles and said the Wigan fans were the worst he’s had to deal with. Got verbally abused and threatened 4 or 5 times - don’t think a young lad should have to put up with that. I certainly wouldn’t at work.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
I think the pressure of a promotion chase is getting to the fans (collectively speaking) more than it is the players. Big game next week and an occasion to savour. Let’s regroup…
Re: Birmingham and Burton KO moved
Hot take - I am completely comfortable paying £32.50 for my ticket for that game. It’s a top of the table clash against a massive football club. They’ve renovated parts of their stadium. It’s a great stadium. It’ll be a total sell out. The best game of the season on paper. The one I’ve been looking forward to since the end of last season. I get way more frustrated when I go to the likes of Burton and Bristol Rovers and pay £25+ for a shit view and a terrace.
Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
I dread to think how some people will cope if we lose to Wrexham and this goes down to the wire.

Re: Match Day Thread: Wigan
Exactly. I've said this before, but it's worth mentioning that we have struggled to break down these teams coming to AP for a few months now, including many games under Blooms and Sam Grace.
Just like Wigan, each of Mansfield, Bolton, Reading, Huddersfield, Northampton, and Exeter came to AP, packed the defence, sat back for a draw, and barely even tried to threaten our goal. We very fortunately beat Mansfield and Exeter, but it's not like today was an outlier. It's extremely hard to play against these tactics, and I don't think the manager (Blooms or Dodds or Grace) can really be criticised too much. You need an opposition error or a bit of luck in these type of games, and we haven't got that recently
