Re: Match Day Thread: Stevenage
It would be interesting to see the Stevenage fans reaction but it would take a month to download it from their forum.
Re: Where would you like us to be in the future?
@Malone I would love to see Wycombe in the Premier League. I remember fondly the atmosphere of Loakes Park, which you could never replicate at Adams Park or any new ground for that matter! But things move on & we've had a taste of the Championship & I'd like to see more of it please (& beyond)!
Should Wycombe suddenly be catapulted into the Premier League tomorrow there would be a whole new experience of watching matches. Exiled fans would come overnight, hotels would be full & the club would be constantly in the media spotlight. But in a pyramid system that's what we're aiming to achieve. And that's why so many people living in South Bucks & East Berkshire go and watch Premier League football. It's the best level of competitive league football in the world.
However, that is not to decry local football. It's a whole different game, run by different people, with different ambitions. The football may not be as good but (for the money to get in) it provides great entertainment. The two sides of the game aren't mutually exclusive but can be enjoyed in equal measure - but at a vastly different cost. We have some wonderful little grounds in this country, run by wonderful people - something we can often forget but should always cherish.
Re: Other Football
A bit like Derby, Sunderland or Birmingham in League One or dare I say it Wycombe in the Championship.
That is the beauty of football and any team can fall from grace or hit the highest highs.
We are hitting those highs and it just doesn’t feel right to so many opposition fans. Long may it continue.
Re: Match Day Thread: Stevenage
Just watched it. TikTok isn't for me, but bloody hell, I was expecting something horribly offensive from the reaction on here. Some people need to lighten up a bit! (Great use of Will McKenzie sound effect too)
Re: Where would you like us to be in the future?
Maybe we will take the partridges and some of the trees with us.
Re: Rumour Mill
I think any player signed on a permanent basis these days would have to be seen as having Championship potential.
Re: Match Day Thread: Stevenage
These are the frequencies that they "split to" for the live commentaries @micra
- 90.4 FM: Epping Green, near Hertford
- 92.1 FM: Bedmond, near Hemel Hempstead
- 94.7 FM: Quainton Hill, near Aylesbury
- 95.5 FM: Sandy Heath
- 98.0 FM: High Wycombe
- 103.8 FM: Zouches Farm, near Luton
- 104.5 FM: Bow Brickhill, near Milton Keynes
- Wycombe is usually on the 98.00 frequency. Though I prefer to watch from Vippiene when I can't get to away games/too far to travel. 🤷♂️
Re: Match Day Thread: Stevenage
Part of my point was that we have been mocking other clubs on our official social media for years, usually to huzzahs all around. I am not sure why this very silly video, clearly aimed at a young demographic, is any worse than all of that much-celebrated twitter trolling?
To get offended about this is like listening to Michael Bolton for years and then getting offended at Mr Blobby putting out a low quality song!
Re: Man of the Match - Stevenage (A)
So, as of now, Grimmer has twice as many votes as Humphreys and Kone has twice as many votes as Grimmer. 11, 22 and 44 respectively.
Nothing particularly significant in that observation. I just liked the statistical symmetry.
