Re: New Manager Vote
I have come around to seeing this as all on Blooms, leaving us in the lurch. I now realize that:
- The club accidentally kept sacking those closest to Blooms, even before the season started. They actually meant to give them pay raises.
- Dan Rice genuinely forgot Matt Bloomfield's name when he insisted on calling him "the manager" in interviews. It was on the tip of his tongue the whole time!
- When Dan Rice extolled the club after the Aston Villa game, he meant to actually congratulate Blooms and the players on the performance, rather than a throwaway "on and off the pitch" comment as part of a larger generic speech.
- The club had a fat extension for Blooms prepared once they saw him overachieving, but the dog ate it. Once they re-printed it and posted it, it got lost in the mail.
There was literally nothing else the club could have done, and they are gutted that Blooms chose to leave them in the lurch!
Re: New Manager Vote
Maybe Norgaard was approached at the start of the season on the basis that Matt would be sacked during an early run of bad form but when we were expecting to spend a few years building the squad in League One. But given Matt's unexpected success, Dan Rice finds himself advertising a job with strong prospects of taking the club up first time. I can imagine a world in which he tests whether bigger names (Ashley Cole?) might be tempted to come to us now - if not Norgaard remains available.
Re: New Manager Vote
First time I’ve ever set eyes on him (or ears, for that matter) but seems a pleasant articulate guy. Far too New School for my taste, of course.
Re: New Manager Vote
The reality is none of us know what went on behind the public facade.
It may indeed be as simple as the ownership group wanted to change the role from manager to head coach & MB was unable to reconcile that with how he saw the role.
It could be as complex as some of machiavellian theories that have been espoused across not only The Gasroom but other social media outlets.
I am not convinced we will ever know, but I am sure there are mighty tomes to be written interpreting every word, inflection, gesture etc. of the interviews of Blooms pre & post departure to support or debunk the plethora of theories that have been shared.
