Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
9 changes but still a team full of players we would love to have.
Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
then on top of this i think need to recruit a havoc maker, someone very tricky who can beat 2 or 3 men
Re: Sonny Bradley signs
It reminds me a little of the days we had Johnson and Williamson which looks looked a cheat code, but back then there was a feel we needed an experienced brute to support them. We brought Nethercott in.
Different circumstances but we're feeling more secure than we did last week.
Will be interesting to see what the Danish fella is like.
Re: Sonny Bradley signs
Maybe a bit old fashoned but I love defenders who play like there's nobody in goal
Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
He was instrumental in getting Bayo sent off in the game at the Kassam back in 2019, wasn't he?
Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
last night showed where we are at, think we look a very good team when teams come at us. We are in a transition learning phase of the season where teams are happy to take a point from us and we need to figure that out, need someone to step up as the man to pass through the lines to our pocket players, then teams will get disorganized. I dont see leahy or bakinson as that man i think butch could be the man to step up thought he was v good last night.
Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
Coventry at home in 2017 was the coldest ever. And losing to a late mystifying penalty took the temp down an extra few degrees. At least our performance was warming last night
Re: Match Day Thread: Portsmouth (FA CUP)
Very good performance last night. I thought Leahy was excellent and really drove the team forwards and he finally put in a very good delivery for the second goal from a free kick. His pressing was very good and he just seemed to really want it last night.
Bradley was superb and so pleased we've signed him and I think Skura can really learn a lot from him. If Joe Low is off then I think Declan can step up. He'll make some mistakes but anyone learning their trade will.
The whole team looked so much more comfortable with a back four. Gideon did ok at right back from a defensive viewpoint but he's not so comfortable heading the ball, which could prove a problem in the lonig run. However, what he does give us is an amazing turn of pace and a real double threat down the right hand side when going forwards.
I really like Butcher and he was very good last night, if Morley doesn't return, I think we have enough in midfield if we play like last night.
Looking forward to the draw on Sunday, I'd be happy with Goodison, we'd have to hire a pub out just for the gasroom meet up!
