Re: 24 / 25 Season Attendance Prediction Competition
After the Bolton Home Game - Match 20
Lots of close predictions this game.
First one correction to the Shrewsbury game Leaderboard - As I posted in the Shrewsbury game attendance prediction thread I made a transcription mistake with @perfidious_albion's prediction. His correct score was 138 for that game (not 305). It of course makes a change of one place upwards in the Overall Leaderboard for the Shrewsbury game Leaderboard with a proper score of should have been 188.56.
Apologies to @perfidious_albion and thanks for graciously pointing out the mistake. Apologies to @mwite who of course keeps the same score but would move down one place in the table.
If made the change on the master copy before I made the BoIton Game changes. I won't post an updated Shrewsbury game Leaderboad and I hope everybody is ok with that - please post if you are not! The Bolton game Leaderboard was made with that alteration already incorporated.
Now the Updated Table with that alteration and the Bolton game scores:
Many congratulations to @DevC retaking the top of the table with the 3rd best score of the Bolton match. Tenth best scores counted fo the first time and some movements in the table are due to that, but not this change.
A mention for @Shev, whose upturn in form, and 2nd best prediction of the week, resulted in a huge 30 point reduction in score but only a single place up the table.
Congratulations to @perfidious_albion - Forecaster of the Week and the single digit score of 8 is a new personal best. Congratulations are due to @Manboobs and @Shev and to Chat gpt who also made personal best predictions for the season so far.
Nobody moved up five or more places.
Three forecasters already have sub 100 scores and now will never lose that status this season, as it is now the ten best predictions which count on this leaderboard for the rest of the season. Congratulations to @DevC, @NewburyWanderer and @wwfcblue for reaching that milestone before Christmas. Its going to be a good season.
There are several places in the table that are very tight. @ryan_w_kirkby2 leads @a40 by just five predicted people total, @BSE leads @mwite @a40by a single predicted person (!) and @Manboobs leads @Onlooker by four predicted people
Please don't forget the Christmas fixtures - both threads have been started.
Re: Match Day Thread: Bolton
It's quite worrying that people are coming out of school unable to spell basic words or form sentences properly. The BFP are particularly bad for it, but you see ridiculous mistakes on the BBC all the time these days.
Re: Attendance Prediction - Bolton (h) - Fri 20th Dec '24 - Match 20 in 24/25
Top Twenty for the Total Crowd: [Actual 6119]
Many congratulations to @perfidious_albion, Forecaster of the Week and within single figures and a new personal best for the season.
Also congratulations to @Shev who was the second poster on record and the second closest of the match - missing by just 15. I am pleased your season just took a turn for the better - at least on these threads.
Congratulations too to @DevC for the second closest prediction of the day, missing by just 15. This looks as though it will have an impact on the top of the 'Tour de Season Prediction Table'.
Following the series of close predictions for the Shrewsbury away game, Forecasters on here have again gone close en masse. Congratulations are due to the rest of those who predicted within one hundred of the correct attendance, namely @93Chairboy; @PJS; @Mandown; @wwfcblue; @williwycombe; @NewburyWanderer;@Manboobs; @robin;@MFH_Blue and @Commoner.
Chat gpt appears in the top twenty table albeit in 20th.
Our collective average over a record 37 predictions was 6048 for the total crowd, so we were collectively good and not many more than a handful beat the average.
Top Twenty for the Away Crowd: [Actual 770]
A tie at the top, many congratulations to @MindlessDrugHoover and @PJS who bracketed the 770 attendance with predictions that were both just five away, @PJS with the small overestimate and @MindlessDrugHoover with the small underestimate.
Congratulations to @thecatwwfc and to @DJWYC14 who also both had single digit misses.
Congratulations also to @perfidious_albion; @Onlookerl; @bookertease and @Mandown who were all within the 5% mark [38].
A special mention for @Mandown who imaginatively used a sparing number of digits for both predictions (6080 and 806) ansd managed to come close with both.
A mention for Chat gpt which appears in 14th in this table and I suspect will appear in all three top twentys for this match.
Our collective average for those in the Whiffaway was 721, 49 away. So our average in this case only just beat the collective wisdom of the internet.
Top Twenty for the Home Crowd; [Calculated as a somewhat satisfying 5349]
Many congratulations to @wwfcblue - closest on this measure this week.
Congratulations to @DevC; @perfidious_albion; @ryan_w_kirkby2; @PJS; @Manboobs; ; @93Chairboy and @Mandown who were all within one hundred for the number of Trotters making the trip.
Chat gpt didn't make the cut on this measure, 249 out, put them 25th.
Our average over the 37 predictions was 5327 out by just 22, only bettered by @wwfcblue. @manchesterchairboy please don't take this seriously and so please keep posting chat gpt's answers, but if you remove the AI guess, the human average from the 36 predictions would be 5333, missing by just 16!. So satisfying pat on the back for everybody.
Please don't foreget the festive season games - threads for predicting the attendance and indeed for the score are in play for the Stevenage away game on Boxing Day and for the Charlton away game early on Sunday 29th.
Re: Other Football
And wouldn't it be nice for him to go out with a winning goal against Birmingham too?
Re: Other Football
That's a great boost for us.
Now for some luck / sensible management from the 3 or 4 clubs we have key loanees from!
