Re: Training ground
If only Jerry Hayes had been the MP for Hayes & Harlington.
He was one of the first to get on the publicity hound trail, regularly turning up on late night shows like ITV’s Night Network and the James Whale show. Also Ch4’s Under the Moon (bringing it back to football at last).

Sat next to Gerry Adams in business lounge at Belfast Airport - decided against trying any conversation though.

93 and still going despite bladder cancer in 1999 and a double heart bypass in 2003.
Re: Training ground
Early Noughties I was hurrying either from or to somewhere while carrying a heavy box, turned a corner and nearly flattened an oldish guy coming the opposite way. I apologised before realising it was Tony Benn. He was very cheery and we had a brief chat about being busy.
Re: Reading offer Bearwood training ground to Wycombe
Only £1.6b? Lommy could buy every player in the Danish league for that and still be the richest owner in L1.
Re: Reading offer Bearwood training ground to Wycombe
Not entirely sure the new bloke is a much better bet...but I suppose it depends how bad the bad bet was.
Perhaps Rob will sue both?
Re: Reading offer Bearwood training ground to Wycombe
I would say his main motivation for getting involved with us was his belief some modest investment and his vision greatly improving turnover from concessions would make the club at least break even.
The potential for turning Reading around is far greater, and he must have felt he had the ability to do that. Rather than perhaps grateful he had just dodged a massive bullet, he obviously feels pretty hard done by Dai pulling the rug from under the sale to Couhig's consortium and appears to want to at least cream a few pennies by obstructing the sale to the new preferred bidder.
I must say I'd like to be in the courtroom when Couhig tries to explain how being denied the chance to take over a football club that has run up 9-figure losses in the past decade represents a loss of 8-figure potential profits.

Once had a slash next to the Beast of Bolsover, Dennis Skinner MP, at the Quad cinema in Derby
No words were spoken, of course.
Massive thread derail this.
Re: Countdown to Wrexham

Setting aside Wrexham as Saturday’s result is so important to our relative positions, every time we win a game the pressure on our rivals to produce exceptional results grows stronger. For instance, if we win 3 more games our challengers would have to win 5/6 games to overtake us. That’s a hell of a massive task when they only have 10 games left.
