Re: David Wheeler departs
Wheels has been my favourite player since walking through the door, not just because of his class on the pitch, but also the way he handles himself away from it. His keen sense of responsibility and ability to understand that football was a big part of life, but crucially not the only part of life is something that still inspires me whenever we have a slightly dodgy result.
He represented the club so beautifully and I hope wherever he lands next he can find somewhere that not only appreciates his on field ability but also gets how much he adds culturally.
I’ve no doubt David will be successful in whatever he chooses to do after football, if he emerges as a Labour/Green MP for my local area one day I’d certainly not hesitate to give him my vote.
Thank you for everything Wheels - and good luck!
Re: Mike Dodds
I think we can all agree the days of The Stath being a supporting player in a Vinnie Jones fillum have long gone.
Re: You are the Boss! 2025 WWFC Edition.
I agree. Simons will be almost a cert to start from the off.
Can't be long until Scowen has to miss a game or two due to yellow cards or a stupid niggly injury.
Westergaard (I think) will be rotated with Scowen depending on the opposition and his fitness. I was keeping an eye on him v Barnsley when he came on and he made some good forward runs arriving at the edge of the box BUT he also gave the ball away cheaply a few times; which is likely just not knowing the others and being not fully match fit.
Re: Mike Dodds
It wasn't a thriller but he was the 'Mad Monk' keeper in the Vinnie Jones UK remake of The Mean Machine.
Re: You are the Boss! 2025 WWFC Edition.
Sadlier was easily one of our best attacking threats early in the season. Excited to see him come back.
Re: David Wheeler departs
I believe he was doing a masters in sports psychology, so he should have plenty of options playing or otherwise
Re: David Wheeler departs
Sadly I knew this was coming.... I suspect this may hint at retirement from playing; albeit I still think he would have a lot to offer somebody mid-bottom half of this league or in L2.
Model professional and a gem of a man; and the message to the fans was exactly what you'd expect from him and was very classy. Literally played for the badge every time he put that shirt on for us. I am sure we will be hearing plenty about the work he is doing post WWFC.
Re: David Wheeler departs
I took advice from a wise sage on here by changing my default on Twitter to 'Following'. As a result I am not exposed to argumentative nonsense. My life is better and I have no idea if Neal Harman is nice human or not. I can tell you that there are planned closures on the M20 and M25 tonight though - you have been warned.
Re: David Wheeler departs
Thanks for everything Wheels!
He would make a great PFA Chair if the position came up
