Re: Mike Dodds. Discuss.
At the risk of continuing a circular debate and having a ramble…Dodds is an outsider and not an outwardly inspirational figure like GA or one of our own like Blooms, who some of us feel was ill-treated, or at least not given the space and respect he deserved. In that respect, Dodds has a tough gig, despite the lofty position he’s inherited. I’m not personally one for reading into his tics and mannerisms, I’ll enjoy the end of season ride, probably laugh, cheer, moan along the way, but judge properly when all is said and done.
To make a wider point, I love the fact that we hold our custodians to account. Even though as individuals we’re relatively powerless and shoot into the Gasroom breeze, we’ve also shown that as a collective we’re prepared to stand up for what we value (eg The People’ vs Bookerdome), and for the legacy of our predecessors such as Frank Adams. There aren’t many fanbases left that do this, especially when minted owners come along. Yes, that can give a perception as being enemies of progress, and the flip side is that ‘progress’ in the modern sense isn’t always received with blind faith and optimism. Authority is questioned first until answers are given or shown through action. I wouldn’t want us to lose that spirit or sacrifice it for fleeting success.

Re: Teams who can't catch us & Points to elimination
I should add this is league matches only. 🤣 Probably important to state that. I felt it was the most fair data set to use.

Re: Mike Dodds. Discuss.
Not sure he'll be leading with that when they've gone down by early April!

Re: Mike Dodds. Discuss.
Is this a good time to mention that GA has achieved more points against the top 6 (minus ourselves) than all of our managers put together this season?
Re: Training ground - is football coming home?
It really is no more than a great big field with about 10 football pitches on it, plus 1 particular pitch which has been relaid and had a lot of money spent on it. Facility wise other than pitches, think of the big set of changing rooms at the rye, put another level on top and then a canteen in top of that. A few rooms / offices thrown in too. Doesn’t appear anywhere near as warm and welcoming as the Marlow Road facility, in fact it’s less purpose built in some ways.
Re: Does anyone genuinely believe we’re going to finish second this season?
Not sure I've ever disagreed with a Gasroom take more than with that first paragraph!!
Re: Does anyone genuinely believe we’re going to finish second this season?
Are you suggesting that the problem is with the supporters not being clever enough to understand the tactics that the head coach is trying to employ.
(I know you think I'm pretty dim when it comes to understanding tactics but I'm a small sample)

Re: Does anyone genuinely believe we’re going to finish second this season?
I imagine given the time most supporters would make pretty good tacticians. Perhaps better than a lot of people in the game.
All I'm saying is that the management/coaching team spend all week working on this stuff, so it's reasonable to expect there's a logical strategy behind the formation and tactics. So while it might feel irritating, there's going to be a good reason for players appearing in odd positions or a strange shape.
Watching 45 minutes and concluding the answer must obviously be 'round pegs for round holes' is probably too simplistic.

Reading match report from Base of the Pyramid.
