Re: Rumour Mill
why don't you guys set up a group called "Leahy fan group " one group i certainly won't be joining or commenting on!!
Re: Rumour Mill
Butcher does what he is good at ...Leahy thinks he is better than he is and this is damaging the team , the only true asset he brings to the team is a direct FK from 20 yards or so...heaters he had a chance in the 1st half when totally free to cross the ball to one of 2 WW players but shanked it out ...he is a squad player and nothing more...someone to bring on to kill time, he very rarely impacts a game positively....not sure what some people obsession with him is....
Re: Rumour Mill
would rather Butcher than leahy ....leahy at LB if Harvie is injured yes , but in MF the match bypases him....all he does his hoof it and even then it's poor, his set pieces are also terrible ...with Butcher he keeps the ball moving and passes to players who CAN Impact the match ...Leahy thinks he can impact play ...but usually only does in a negative way
Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
For all those concerned about Evatt a few thoughts from our side. For two and a half years Evatt was incredible. In January 24 we were a point behind Pompey at the top of L1 with two games in hand, above Derby and with 3 games in hand. What could possibly go wrong? It did, we stopped playing the free flowing one touch stuff that was a joy to watch and instead commenced a slow and sideways system. We completely blew it wasting the games in hand but hey we still had Wembley!! I don’t think Evatt ever got over that defeat and it’s haunted him since and he got into the habit of blaming everyone else and wouldn’t see his system was a car crash and everybody had worked him out. To be honest he should have gone after Wembley and keeping him was a mistake, this seasons been a disaster. All that said the majority of fans wanted him to succeed, even up to the end because he’s a worker not just on the field but behind the scenes as well. I am certain that after a little reflection and the pressure off Evatt will have learned from it so would he be good form Wycombe? In my opinion yes but as domevsay, he does like his own way! 😀
Re: Rumour Mill
Great as the King is for us and however much they want to back their new manager, I am surprised that Luton would risk a big wad of parachute cash and their Championship survival on a half season of L1 success. He would need to hit the ground running immediately. The question is will the management team be tempted by the figures being offered.
'Sam see if we can win the Northampton game without Kone...'
This late in the window I would hope not.
Re: Rumour Mill
Totally agree with this. I think an offer like that would be necessary for us to consider.
Re: Today...
...in 2007 (18 years ago) Matt Bloomfield came on as a half-time substitute (replacing Jermaine Easter) for Wycombe Wanderers in a 2-0 League Two defeat to Stockport County at Edgeley Park.
In 2024 (one year ago) Matt Bloomfield was manager of Wycombe Wanderers in a 2-2 League One draw with Fleetwood Town at Adams Park. Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zR0L6HKuOY0 (includes Richard Kone's first league goal).
NB: one year on, Fleetwood Town are in 15th place in the League Two table, Wycombe Wanderers are in second place in League One.
Re: Rumour Mill
Kone starts and scores tomorrow, kissing the badge before putting on his crown. He's going nowhere this month.
Re: Rumour Mill
It would have to get to at least 10m for us to consider selling this month. I'm assuming if he had a release clause, it would already have been triggered.
Re: New Manager Rumour Mill
100%.
Steadying the ship is one thing, going with the players they know.
But integrating these 4 newbies and making tough selections from a squad of 30, where quality players might not even get in the 18 is quite another thing.
