I don’t believe he’s worked with Michael Duff before.
Solid name and looks decent in the gear. He’s got half a chance.
30 years as player and coach at 42 takes some doing!
And interesting to see he was Crewe’s permanent manager at one point, not a caretaker, but stepped down for compassionate reasons (according to wiki anyway).
One of the issues has been until recently nobody on the coaching side or Director of Football had any previous experience as a player, coach, manager in Lower League Men’s Football.
Like the reverse decision to move to Harlington, this has now been addressed with the appointment of Messrs. Michael Duff and Alex Morris. I wish them both the best.
Both of them have spent years and years at one club, which speaks well of them and hopefully, we are at the beginning of a new era.
Unfair to judge what progress they have made until they have had 2 transfer windows.
It’d be a tad disappointing not to be above 20th/21st in League 1 though.
If they have much say in the transfer windows of course!
Wonder if they’ll just get lumped with another 10 random players in the next 2 windows too.
One of my former work colleagues in Cheshire, whose 2 sons went through the academy at Crewe, said this will be the best signing we’ve made this season. Praise indeed!
