  • Spot on, a lot of those seem to have gone pretty quiet since 66mins of the game today.

It must be a pretty miserable existence for them…

There was absolutely no "fluke" about today.

A fluke is Leahy crossing it and it ending up in the top corner, like v Mansfield at home.

Lincoln barely had a sniff and it always seemed to be a 1-0 game maximum.

Was just a case of how late we'd get our act together. But the second we scored it was done.

  • Long may it continue. I wasn't decrying his luck I just don't see the last couple of results as the perfect execution of a masterplan either, if we can keep it up it won't matter either way but I'd rather we actually went in the opposition box occasionally in the first half rather than hoping to scrape something late on.

  • How different might the match have been had the referee stamped on the persistent Lincoln shirt pulling and fouling right from the off? At one point I began to wonder if he thought we were playing Wrexham ... !!

  • Bang on the money

Yes, it was a win but if we continue to play like that then we will have a very miserable, turgid end to the season..one which could potentially end in glory if we played with positivity and to our strengths will very quickly peter out and end in a flaccid exit in the playoffs.

Apologies for the negativity but struggling to see how this manager improves us right now.

  • His post match analysis was spot on. Too ponderous and deep for most of the first half and that it wasn’t a vintage performance. And pointing out we don’t have a divine right to win football games isn’t exactly brand new information

  • Wingback are tough to get right tactically when you have good ones. Even harder when you have two reasonable full backs who aren't particularly mobile or good going forward.

Would have thought if we had to play wingback that Reach would be perfect there. But Dodds doesn't seem to share that at all.

  • Wrexham have fluked about half of the games they've won this season. Today wasn't a fluke at all. We were utterly solid at the back and took one of our chances. Not entertaining, but we deserved to win

What about when he said that “for people that don’t watch the games… and don’t watch the league… they might suggest that Rotherham aren’t very good by looking at their position at the league, but they’re really difficult to play against”

Why is he poking fun of us? As if we don’t watch the league? Don’t watch the games? It’s insulting. I pay loads of money to watch us up and down the country. I watch League 1 games. I even watched Charlton vs Huddersfield in the early kick off. I’ve seen Rotherham four or five times this season. It’s plainly wrong to suggest that they’re a good team in this division. They got smashed 4-0 by Crawley today. They were rubbish against us the other week.

  • If he's with us next season he could do with some media training as he'll be on the telly a bit more.

  • Purely because they are not on our books season end and I’m mentally preparing for the worst.

  • If we persist with 5 at the back then Fred for me must play RWB. Was superb Championship season in that role all be it at LWB. In his short cameo today looked good. Has the pace recovery pace and offers a threat going forward.

  • POTD.

This stage of the season is about ticking off the games and the points, if we get promoted nobody will care about the performance against Rotherham or Lincoln.

  • My concern is actually the future.

Utterly dull as dishwater for the first hour, and I felt at the time that if we do manage to get promoted then based on how we are playing at the minute it’ll be a thoroughly miserable season in the championship.

I agree it’s most important to get the result, but let’s not complain about our attendances despite being in a fantastic position whilst this is the entertainment offering that people are paying good money for.

  • Were the crowds much better when we were playing some great stuff under Blooms though?

He's improving quickly. Not much face touching and the swaying was subdued. Simple black hoodie. Probably not Hugo Boss, more likely PS by Paul Smith, though Doddsy strikes me as very much a Superdry sort of guy.

  • Overall I didn't think it was too bad in the end. Once we scored the game opened up and we really should have scored again.

No doubt it is too slow and a bit boring to watch. We'll need to offer more entertainment over a 46 games season to keep the average punter happy. But, given where we are, I'm prepared to tolerate the current approach if the management team believe it gives us the best shot at automatic promotion.

If we do go up it's likely that we'll need to play a relatively cagey, low risk style in order to stay in the division above.

We're clearly trying to minimise risk on the ball and avoid situations where we turnover possession in dangerous positions. Likewise, 3 at the back has given us dominance in the air against two direct, physical teams. Some will see that as defensive but I'd say it's just pragmatic.

It does feel like we've given the players a lot of new tactical instructions to take onboard. As a result, we seem to be a bit ponderous at times - watching Norris go through a list of passing options as he scans the pitch is quite tedious. But hopefully as we players settle into the gameplan it will begin to look a bit more fluid.

  • For me, I would be a lot more worried had Dodds come up at the end of today and say he was happy with the performance. But instead he talked about taking the hand break off and having a different mindset, which suggests to me he does want us to play and be more exciting than we were today.

I’ve said in the last week or so that 3 CB’s and two wing backs can result in becoming very defensive which I sounds like we’re we’re at times. I would like to see Reach at LWB and Fred RWB as I think they would be naturally more minded to push forward and support the midfield and attack.

That would be at the expense of being more defensively open but I just don’t see Grimmer and Leahy providing the attacking threat consistently

Which posters wanted us to lose?

    Trevor and Rovert (evil Trevor)

As seasons go I’m not complaining. I would have taken play offs at the start of the season. I went to the seasons sponsors dinner and all the players were fantastic and there was a cracking atmosphere and they were all up for a chat. And we won. And the card machine was broken and I got a free Bovril. What’s not to like

  • I think this is the most joyless I have felt after watching us win for a very long time. Yes, I jumped as high as everyone else when we scored. Yes, I am delighted we won. Yes, we were pretty much in control for most of the game (and to be fair particularly after we scored). Yes, results are the be all and end all at this stage of the season.

But, I can hardly claim to have any tactical awareness or football knowledge yet when I saw the starting 11 I knew exactly how the first 60 minutes would play (bore) out.

When you look at a bench overloaded with attacking options and a team on the pitch overloaded with defensive ones at home to a mid-table side with nothing to play for I just find it bewildering and depressing.

In the end, the result came down to two one-on-ones. Theirs (a few minutes before ours) Norris made a decent save to keep it 0-0. Ours Humphries does superbly to round the keeper and slide it under their retreating defender.

  • Yes it’s a real shame that the attendance was just shy of 5000 - given it was a lovely day for watching football and our league position.

Remaining positive, should we achieve promotion I am in no doubt that we we will see many changes in the summer with regards to the on field team - I wouldn’t be surprised if we also see a change of coaching staff very early on if the team aren’t performing to the hierarchy’s expectations

That’s 3 posts from me in one day, I’m now getting a nose bleed so goodnight all

  • No problem with people disagreeing. All part of the game. Not one of Richard’s better performances. I think the referee was miles away from most of the big calls today. Plenty of nonsense going on between Kone and O’Connor. A stern word early on might have stamped it out.

Richard will come up against opposition like this throughout his career. All about keeping his cool and not getting frustrated. All part of the learning process.
