Since our 8 games won in a row ended in November, we've scored 28 in 21 games. It's hardly a surprise we are struggling to score goals, we have done for the majority of the season.
We scored 32 in 14 from game 3 until the last of the winning run.
If we keep it 0-0, I can actually see us winning just like last week if we bring on attackers and revert to a sane shape. In which case would it have "worked" again?
It probably sounds like it, but we really weren’t. It’s just that some things actually happened in the opposition half and Phil was doing an incredible job of making it sound like we were doing things intentionally.
We had a great run of form and goals but it dried up. We won 8 in a row. Then we started struggling for goals in comparison. But this isn't a new issue that goals have been a struggle. It's been the case since end of November bar the odd game.
Alternatively how can you play 3 centre backs, 2 absolutely non attacking players at wing back, the actual wing back wide attack and leave Kone absolutely hilariously isolated.
Even if you want to curate Blooms' tenure to make it sounds like we were not that good under him, we scored 14 in 9 after the winning run ended - 1.55 goals per game.
Even with the absurd late show last week, we have scored 9 in 8 under Dodds, 1.12 goals per game.
Do you think we would have dropped to 1.12 GPG under Blooms, when the "bad run" you are referring too was still MUCH better?
Not only that, but Blooms was always clear about being attack-minded, whereas Dodds is clear about being boring as hell control.
This is exactly how it was under Bloomfield initially. Relatively complex tactics for this level. An emphasis on building securely from the back, reducing risk and not losing the ball.
The result was a year of absolutely abject football and the only spell during which I can recall not wanting to go to games.
At this stage it looks like a case of hoping it clicks in the remaining games before the play offs. It's going really feel like a very flat end to the season if it doesn't.
Identical to the Rotherham 1st half. Individually we're playing quite well, but Kone is too isolated and we've got no width. Everything breaks down before we get into the final third.
Lots went wrong and lots went right against Rotherham and we seem to have analysed it and decided to repeat everything that was wrong instead of what went right.
Still got a good chance of winning this of course, but feels like we're waiting for the subs to come on and change it.
The goals dried up when Kone was injured and McCleary tired, we've bought attackers in to freshen things up , unfortunately nobody asked the new coach if he fancied any of them before they signed him up.
I'm not saying we weren't that good under him. Though at times we weren't. Then at times we were, and for a period this season we were great. Then we started to struggle, in comparison. Which isn't a surprise.
My view is, we would likely be similar position. Maybe style of football would be different, maybe even more exciting. But I'm not sure we would get back to those heady days of 8 in a row. Teams hit form, and that was when we hit ours. Like Charlton know in form.

Time to leave this forum. So negative.
It's abysmal because we are supposed to be a team chasing automatic promotion. If it was a pre-season friendly it would be fine.
Perhaps it's the same as every time. Poor first half, then do it in the 2nd
We were the top scorers in England at one point, Dan.
Camera pans to an away fan looking for the toilets. Oh, my mistake, It's our manager.

What makes me the most furious is that if we don't win this, Eric can't come on and make his bedwetting comments at full time.

Sounds like we've been better last 10/15.
Tbf, we started looking a lot better in those last 5 minutes before half time. Actually had a few attacks and shots. Turgid before that though
Not as negative as our tactics.

Yep, the same posters with 300 variants of the same theme is as tedious as the football.

On that logic we should all leave the stadium then!!
Given that this is the only thing you ever post, why don’t you just copy and paste it rather than trying to reword it slightly each time?
Nicely in control with loads of attacking options to come on at 60 for a nice win.
What's the matter with you lot

For the 2nd game in a row
Tbf to him, it is true that we struggled before Blooms left. It still doesn't explain the absurdity of these tactics and performance though

Shouted at Dodds to change the formation by the tunnel and got a blank stare back. Fuming with that approach. 45 mins wasted
This is the problem.
It may eventually yield results. But the football is terrible entertainment.

When I produce actual stats and all you do is down-thumb the post, you are admitting you have no counter.
We've got 8.5 games to find a system that works or it's hard to see us beating 2 in form teams in the playoffs.
Alternatively, score a goal and Wrexham concede and it's a brilliant day.
