Many thanks for that @Chris. In case anyone else is wondering, SSML stands for Spartan South Midlands League. In my younger days, there were also Corinthian, Athenian and, top of the pile, Isthmian Leagues.
"In 1920 the Club was reformed, this time taking the name of Hanwell Town. Local folklore and tradition maintain that it was founded by Geordies, many of whom were demobbed servicemen after the Great War. Many of them worked on major projects such Sir Robert McAlpine’s construction company building the Great Western Water Treatment works pipeline from Hammersmith to Isleworth. Unfortunately, the names of these playing pioneers have been lost as there are no surviving official club records from this period."
Windsor & Eton could all but have won the title at Watchet Lane tonight but in the end were well beaten by a defiant, battling Holmer Green side.
Windsor & Eton started the more brightly but Holmer Green gradually got a foothold in the game & took the lead on 40 minutes. In the second-half Keith Scott's side constantly threatened on the counter-attack and scored a second shortly after missing a penalty.
Although the visitors rallied towards the end, Holmer Green deservedly hung on to claim an unexpected victory. 136 here to watch it - probably half & half in terms of support. Well worth the sensible admission fee!
If people fancy another non league game and aren’t going to Reading Away on April 5th, then you can treat yourselves to watching a local team in action.
The fixture Hertford Town v Flackwell Heath is going to be free entry in recognition of one of their fans. This might be of use to someone.

Holmer Green v Windsor & Eton tonight (Tuesday) at 7.45pm. Should be Holmer Green's biggest crowd of the season.
