  • What a shambles terrible game first half ,Poor Kone on his own up front please defer to 3 at the back Low Taylor and Bradley a 5 man midfield and 2 up front. we cannot continue with the starting line up as is.

  • Subplot to all that is that the 3 points really comes close to nailing us on for at least the playoffs, which was no given based on our form and run-in. I would guess 75-77 may do it.

  • I think coming into this game too many players were off form as well as tired, Low & Taylor being the obvious examples; as a result confidence had taken a bit of a battering. I think Scowen's rueful shake of the head when being substituted was a reflection not only of his poor game but perhaps that of the other 10 on the pitch too at that point.

The international break gives a chance for the squad to recuperate, re-group and hopefully come back rejuvenated and raring to get the points to get us across the line.

It also gives Dodds & his coaching team a chance to review what works best and who fits where best ready for the last 9 games and perhaps a chance of some glory.

  • With proper coaching and time, I don't mind the 5 at the back. Aside from 2 errors, we looked solid. Simons really helps with moving the ball up the pitch from there. The wingbacks would need to change and our 10s would have to be higher.

  • Bizzare but great scenes, one of those games where a bit of encouragement from a few old boys freezing their tits off seemed to really actually count.

Team selection was all the wrong notes in the wrong order. Style of play lunacy first half. Put the pegs in the right holes and we beat crap like that all day every day.

  • Dramatic late winner to take us back into the automatic spots and loads of fans seem really annoyed

    Bit of a shame really

  • Did he have an Alan Hutchinson ‘boot in your face’ moment?

  • Plenty of take away points for Doddo.

Bradley has to start the next game.

Unless he has instructions that Norris has to play it's probably time to switch keeper back. The Birmingham goal wasn't great but tonight was woeful.

Ditch the back 5 unless the wingbacks change.

Don't ever play Reach wide right again.

  • Agree, I don’t think we were as bad as many were saying. We needed to show more energy and positivity but we were passing the ball OK in the first half.

  • That was all quite strange.

    Some good things:

    - Actually don't mind mixing up the tactics and formation. It keeps other sides guessing and makes us hard to prepare for.

    - We moved the ball forward quicker and had men breaking beyond Kone first half. Again, I think it makes sense for us to try something different given we've struggled for goals lately.

    - Leahy's crossing was absolutely superb tonight. Not just for the two goals either. Our delivery from wide hasn't been good enough of late. Tonight was a big improvement. Personally I'd keep him there over Reach, who looks a good player but is horrible defending 1v1 at full back.

    - We won! Despite the strange game, it will surely do good for confidence to win without playing too well.

    - That game reminded me a lot of the difficult times under Bloomfield, which eventually led to a year of glorious football.

    Some bad:

    - That reminded me a lot of the difficult times under Bloomfield, which lasted almost a year and made knitting seem like like an adrenaline sport by comparison.

    - Felt like we conceded a lot of chances and never had any real control of the game

    - Norris has now dropped a few clangers and clearly isn't great with his feet. Dodds has created quite a dilemma dropping Rav.

  • I used bold for a reason. Whatever the points total, that performance was the most unserious I have seen since... [?]

  • One of the most insane finishes to what for the most part was one of the most mundane games I've ever seen.

I hope we gain confidence from the 3 points, as there's not that much we can take from the performance. At times in the 2nd half we were poor beyond belief. We did however produce the goods when needed. Huge credit to Leahy who produced 2 quality crosses when most needed.

Norris is a worry. His distribution is generally poor (although actually not to bad tonight) and he's now starting to make mistakes. The error tonight was dreadful and yes, there was a clear handball thankfully given, but he'd also have been at fault if the Harris goal had stood. Appreciate he had to change his boots (think he did get trodden on) but the lack of urgency to get a move on was embarrassing. Even his teammates looked fed up with him.

Another thought. Football can sometimes be a weird sport. Best to hold onto thoughts and let them out post match. Looking back at this thread in hindsight is quite amusing, even though I do agree with some of the comments.

  • Definitely prefer Leahy at left back then centre mid.

But not sure left wing back particularly works on the whole.

  • Early second half he seemed to have swapped Reach up front for Josh

Was the strangest of the strange stuff today.

Maybe back to normal for the next game. Though Bradley would be hard done by being left out now. Even more so than before.

  • In Dodds we trust! What an odd game, was so boring and then that happened in the last 10 minutes. I’ve no idea what the formation was or who was playing where but who cares.

I really hope this is a turning point now and we kick on and finish the job. I would get Bradley back in now, probably instead of Low, Rav must be back in now that was dreadful from Norris. Adam Reach I really like, Kodua very impressed with, Simons not as good as Morley from what I’ve seen (guess the data says otherwise) but still decent enough.

10 days for the Doddfather to work on a few things in training and get a bit of a rest for those players who look tired.

I watched on Sky, what went on with Bez?

  • I clearly don’t see what most of you see in Kodua. Gives me headless chicken vibes and he can’t keep the ball in play at all. No left foot. The pacing of his movement is all wrong with no natural flow to it. However, he can come good on churned up pitches like that where a bit of energy injection is needed. I wouldn’t have him starting, but he’s a solid enough backup option with room to develop. He’s very young.

  • I thought Reach was playing upfront with Kone first half. Really difficult to read what his job was tonight.

  • Dodds a bullet there.....

He was getting increasingly like a fan with what he was shouting out, and it sounded like the natives in range were getting more abusive.

So we assume there was a bit of scuffling at least verbally off mic.

  • Who drops out though? Low or Taylor? Until the last two or three games, Low had been the most solid Wycombe CB I'd ever seen, even better than Mawson. It would have been clinically insane to drop him. But someone has to go, and his form is now the worst of the three...

  • He was at times and then at times we were playing a back 8. Not to pile on to Dodds but he's had a mare tonight and they dug him out of it.

  • Why was Cam so deep? He was playing deeper than Josh at times!

Yeah, so the formation was a disaster, happy to eat my words. But what a crazy game.

Simons keeps on having these rushes of blood to the head. He’s got to think more.

Kone, was again, magnificent. He’s going to the Championship at minimum next year, I just hope he’s wearing the quarters when he does.

Thought Dodds made the right call with Low. He was poor today and boy was that a sitter he missed.

And I’m officially starting the Sonny Bradley fan club. I said earlier before the game I was chuffed for him as he’s been so unlucky losing his place, and he paid us all back today.

And we need to sort out throw ins. I reckon we lost about 5 mins of play today with Luke trying to find a player to pick out.

Let’s hope Dodds makes the required formational changes for Lincoln, that is going to be a tough game.

  • He wins against the odds

    Mikey, Mikey Dodds

  • I felt Kone was less 'I love this club' tonight and more 'Do I have to do everything myself'

    Am I right?

  • You could here someone say to Bez they were going to assault him and then Bez shouting something like what you going to do, Rotherham fan should be banned for life, threat could clearly be heard on wanderers tv

  • At the end of the day, Leahy has the last laugh as he’s come away with two fantastic assists. Did he also assist the Joe Low opportunity?
