Maybe we need a support group thread for those of us who are still angry about what happened. I'm still furious, and like others mentioned, feeling totally disconnected from the club - I cancelled my season ticket back in January and really struggle to find any motivation to come to live games.
Looking back at my post I have to agree with you, @Wendoverman. But I think I know you well enough not to feel too much remorse!
I cannot begin to describe how going more than six hours without being able to get a pulse at the wrist (only a 125 - 140 bpm from the left side carotid artery) makes you feel and the unbelievably wonderful sensation of relief when suddenly, almost as if someone has snapped their fingers, normality returns.
Earlier in the evening I was asking mrs micra to jot down certain details with regard to financial matters etc (not least the massive payment for the new roof) because I genuinely felt like I wouldn’t make it through the night. 18 months ago I was given two years unless I agreed to a procedure known as a TAVI. I declined the procedure for various reasons. Being much nearer 90 than 80 and having survived prostate cancer (now stage 4) for nearly 20 years I feel incredibly lucky 🍀 to have got this far.
I hope that helps to explain (if not justify) my self-centred post yesterday evening. This one really takes the biscuit of course in that respect but I think it also epitomises the breadth of subject matter and the level of interest and understanding amongst the community that the Gasroom embraces.
I shall be eternally grateful to @bluequarters and @OxfordBlue for rising to such a difficult challenge and wish them every success.
Self centred? Not at all. You know I only jest @micra.
A lot of us will be of age to either have health worries...or to have witnessed the same in others. The decision to have or not to have a treatment that may or may not improve your lot is a difficult one a lot of people have to make.
More power to you and Mrs micra...and I hope things improve.
I too have a sneaking suspicion the Addicks will pip everyone below Brum. We might have a playoff final chance with a fit Kone. As is tradition, if we do secure second, I will be happy to be proved wrong.
I agree with the Doc, simply because Wrexham have been about the 8th best team, and are having the luckiest season in history. No way they fail to go up automatically, even if it takes a complete fluke in the Charlton game when they play!
The fact that in the same season we were 1st and playing insanely wonderful football, I find myself idly wondering if I would support a protest Wycombe team playing in the non-leagues, says it all.
We are finishing second. Not my words, the words of respected lower league manager Steve Evans. (Not going to link to the BFP as it's almost as bad as having a virus on your computer)
Sounds like a London Pub meet up might be required! I was very close to cancelling my season ticket but only held off as my son was not as angry as I was and just wanted to go to football. If anything, his attitude and his emotional rollercoaster in this season has helped to convince me to keep going, at the moment. Although it's not the same and I'm not certain it ever will be again. I'm just hoping that one day I wake up and I feel connected again.
@micra I do wish you all the best, this place is all the better for you :)
There's usually one person in our team who once played for him and comes over during a break in play to commiserate and agree with him that the referee got it all wrong. Now that Taffs has gone. did SE ever manage in Denmark or Norway?
A virtual hug for all of you who have written such kind words. I will avoid further reference to my parlous state of health but that light bulb moment when normal rate and rhythm returned, quickly followed by that wonderful news about Gasroom 3.0, will live long in my memory.
I read your post earlier @micra but can’t find it now to quote. Sounds like you have had it tough physically in recent times which must be very hard. You are an inspiration to us all to be staying so engaged with the team you support when you can’t attend the games. Enjoy the game tonight if you are watching, I’ll keep a look out for you comments in the virtual way stand match thread!
That’s very kind @username123. I watched the first half on Sky+ with mrs micra and neither of us could believe how scrappy and disjointed it was. I’ve still got it on without really watching it and will now go to another room to watch WanderersTV on my iPad so that mrs m can watch what she wants to watch.
During the five minutes it took me to sort out a dessert and fire up the iPad 0-0 had become 1-1. After that it became a proper game of football - much more like the Olden Days when we had a manager. No falling asleep for those last hectic 25 minutes. The ref seemed desperate to give Rotherham the chance to salvage their incredibly long unbeaten home run. Can’t remember how long.

Lose tonight and tachycardia pills will swamp the adverts on gasroom 3
Everyone excited about new Gasroom developments and @micra is all me me me!!
(Hope you are feeling better, matey, you've got ten games and possibly a Wembley final to get through....!)

I bet you'll be at Wembley though!

Thanks, mate (tempted to throw in your real name). Yes of course I know.
For Charlton v Stockport?
Wrexham v Stockport. Charlton are going up automatically I reckon
One of the few unanimous opinions on the Gasroom is that we all wish you all the very best.
Is there a gig on?

Not sure about the unanimity but thanks @floyd.
It certainly is unanimous @micra! How could you think otherwise?

Certainly all the best from me! You are one of my favourite posters - long may that continue! 😊
Guns n' Roses in June.
1993 me would be all over that.

Viva la revolution!
Definitely count me in for the third coming of the Gasroom.

Think they said 2007! On a Tuesday night at home.
