It importantly keeps us 2nd, even if it "might" have only been a few days we relinquished top spot.
There's still pressure, as lose this one and it's 100% even again, bar our better goal difference, but with us losing a key advantage, and them ticking off another tough away.
We all probably felt we needed to have a margin over them before our very tough end of season fixtures, so we have a proper chance to bed one in now, and in the game in hand.
Rotherham next Tuesday looking like almost an equally huge game. Whatever happens Saturday we could really do with 3 points from that game in hand to keep a good gap down to Charlton.
Two brilliant results for us tonight and two sides doing us a favour who perhaps aren’t our biggest fans - Bristol Rovers and Reading, who would have thought we would be cheering them both on!
A word for the ref…I thought he had a decent game and got most things right, including the decision to show a yellow card (second yellow) for time wasting. Wrexham looked really ordinary and it’s still painful that they beat us at the start of the season, when they were just as ordinary.
@floyd Exactly. If 90 points will be needed for 2nd then Charlton have to win 9 out of their last 10 to get there. It'll have to be truly unbelievable form to do that.
Whereas 90 points for us "only" requires us to go on at 2 points a game. If we want promotion, this is what we have to do.
I reckon autos will require 87 points or 86 with a better goal difference.
Us and Wrexham are still picking up good points but not flying and for someone to get to 87 points they will need a better run over 10 games than anyone currently has in the last 10. Best points from the last 10 being Bolton and Stockport with 23, then Charlton and Birmingham with 20
if your prediction is right that would mean we would only need 18 or 19 points from 11 games. Meaning promotion could be achieved with an indifferent finish to the season.
18 or 19 points could be only 5 wins from the last 11.
Setting aside Wrexham as Saturday’s result is so important to our relative positions, every time we win a game the pressure on our rivals to produce exceptional results grows stronger. For instance, if we win 3 more games our challengers would have to win 5/6 games to overtake us. That’s a hell of a massive task when they only have 10 games left.
Not sure you can say ‘no doubt’ as the pressure to win that many games is intense and don’t forget that we have to play all 3 teams you mentioned, 2 of them at home.

I never thought I would say this but - Up the 'Ding.
Weren't away fans in those days penned in the corner between the Woodlands and the Hillbottom Road end? (next to where the control box is now)
BOOM BOOM
WING!!!!!!
Agent Wing - Up the 'Ding!
Does anyone know if I can upgrade an U11s ticket for the game, to an Adult one?
I'm not proud of myself, but I don't mind Reading winning that one.
Feeling more relaxed about Saturday now.
Think that result takes quite a bit of the pressure out of the game for us. Plus Wrexham didn’t look in great form either.
Hoping it’s Kone’s time to shine on the big stage on Saturday! Looking forward to it!
Wrexham should expect no mercy

I think it will be Charlton who we are competing for 2nd with, they are in outstanding form. On paper not a bad run in either.
Would expect they'd happily do it for you over the phone tomorrow if you ring.
I think so. Call the ticket office.

Bolton losing helps a bit too, as they were on a good run!

Charlton's form and their fixtures look a bit worrying!
However, it's in our hands points and game in hand for now.
We also have a far superior goal difference which could be vital as the season draws to a close.
Feels like the pendulum swung back our way for the first time in a while.
Charlton are the new Huddersfield/Stockport/Leyton Orient.

Phil Parkinson on last night:
"Second half the ref's given a penalty which is one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. If he thinks that's a penalty, then oh my goodness."
Phil doesn't do irony.

No doubt one of Bolton, Stockport, or Charlton will win 6 of their last 10 games though. I reckon we need to win 6 out of 11, with 2 or 3 draws
It was a blatant pen. What was he watching?
