  • It was good to hear Doddsy for the first time speak highly about Westergaard. Sentiments about how he'll be a big asset for the club, but like many of us had hoped/surmised is coming in behind others in fitness, and of course coming into a team sat in 2nd.

  • really good performance last night. Well done to Doddsy and the players.

Disappointing to have people cursing Wrexham's good luck, whilst failing to note the extraordinary luck associated with the pinpoint Brewers own-goal last night.

  • Big difference between

    • Wrexham winning because a margin offside went their way and then they scored a winner with a foul and an offside, and
    • us getting a second goal when in control of the match thanks, in part, to pressure we put on their defence.
  • Udoh was really good last night wasn't he? Seems like Kone's return freed him up to play his preferred game and injected some life into Fred as well.

If those three can stay fit and firing we won't be too far away.

  • Does anyone think Sam Vokes will play for us again? or is he permanently on the coaching staff now ?

  • Isn't the point that Wrexham's goal should have been disallowed? Ours was a fluke, but it wasn't a foul.

  • It was down one because I was working and could not make it to our tinpot club. It was Tuesday night playing Burton...not sure what crowd people were expecting.

    Oh, at least 20,000

(Cue the "you know our ground only holds 9,500 comments")

  • We have had a ridiculous number of Tuesday night home games this season. All have been scheduled for mid-winter in the cold. I think we’ve had more Tuesday night home games than all other clubs.

I am the most passionate of fans but even I struggle to get myself up for Tuesday night matches after a long day at work. Especially with games televised.

Think we have had a disproportionate number of home Saturday games called off due to internationals which needs to be looked at.

In short, blame the schedulers not the fans!

  • Ultimately our low midweek crowds are down to two principal factors:

    1) Anyone in the UK can watch these games online - either via Sky now, or WanderersTV in recent seasons.

    2) Our ticket pricing is not attractive to casual fans. It's £29 minimum for the Frank Adams upper tier, even the terrace is £22. Compare that with watching on TV which many fans can do via their existing subscription or a £15 day pass - it's a huge saving vs attending in person.

There are many things the club could do to incentivise fans along for midweek matches if they wanted to - the fact they don't makes me assume they're not that bothered with our midweek crowds, and the Sky money this season (and WanderersTV in the past has plugged the gap from any lost ticket sales).

  • Slightly playing devil's avocado here but were we to go up a hard-headed businessman with limited connection to the club, looking to maximise profits, may take a look at our attendance and think... could I be making a lot more money by turning the Frank Adams into the away stand and making Wycombe fans sit behind the goal? We'd lose the family stand but I guess you could convert a block in the main stand into that (and solve the problem of legacy adult season tickets in the family stand without kids attached in a stroke). Only real issue would be the executive boxes. Are there any grounds where the executive boxes are in an away stand?

  • Not a good comparison, as we were comfortably on top then, and it wasn't a game changing goal.

Wrexham are getting late winners or pens that shouldn't be given.

However, only the most one eyed fan would suggest they're in 3rd JUST because of those lucky breaks though.

  • Has to be a stretch to see him involved again now. Would take a couple of striker injuries.

  • Wolves

The away 'end' is down one side and I'm sure it kicked off at a game a little while ago

  • They'll surely look at it in the summer and simply just extend the no games on international weekends to league 1.

As they only end up with 2-3 games anyway.

Having said this, if we go up it won't be an issue anyway.

  • You'd like to think so. I think even League 2 had quite a lot of players at the last Euros/WC.

  • Also, I'm sure it's already been said, but I thought we were bloody brilliant last night and 2-0 flattered them. Leahy has come in for a lot of stick but was superb, as were the whole midfield.

  • You wouldn't really want away fans having to go past home ends to get into the ground.

I know the club have given away fans a few blocks of the family stand and Frank Adams before, but that's not ideal either.

I can remember when they let Stoke and Millwall fans into the family stand (though not certain it was a family stand billing then), but that was a horrible experiment and quickly binned off

  • Were the Burton fans packed in like sardines last night then?

  • Someone on here said there's no easy games this time of year, but that was probably the most comfy we've been in a game for a long time.

  • Can we please have fewer games on a school night I’m getting on you know.

This season we've had 6 League home games kicking off on a weekday evening, but all have come since November 26th (Mansfield, Bolton, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Bristol Rovers, Burton).

If you add cup matches, this increases to 11 (Villa, Brighton u21s, Crawley, Swindon, Portsmouth). We've still got Shrewsbury at home to come on a Tuesday night.

In contrast, we've played 3 League games away from home in such circumstances (Barnsley, Stockport, Exeter), plus 3 cup matches (Northampton, Wimbledon, Swansea - all of which were in August). But still have Rotherham and Huddersfield away on Tuesday nights

  • It's funny Leahy gets a lot of stick on here from some and yet the terrace always sings his name.

  • I’m old enough to remember when the reply of choice here would have been “19,500”.

  • In fairness there's a whole range of Leahy opinions on here alone.

He does a solid enough job, but obviously when you hit near league 1 perfection with the Morley-Scowen-Humphreys axis it's a tough comparison for anyone else to live up to.

  • There's a lot of things in his positive column, and those who targeted him harshly for a few bad games will move quickly on to others after a few decent ones. We have options and he is a more than decent player and person to have in the squad if not always a starter.

  • Doesn't hurt having another option for left back as well, though Reach looks a more like for like replacement for Harvie now, especially attacking wise.

  • Big fan of Reach, interesting Dodds doesn’t see him as a left back, he looks a natural there.

  • Might just be an age thing, has played a lot there but useful further forward too, either way he looks a very talented ball player first and foremost so hopefully a good signing. If he wants to smash in a few goals from distance nobody would complain.
