  • Supposedly wrexham have easy run in, as we have found to our cost those are the teams you can struggle against . Just looked playing a few teams fighting and charlton the last game of the season won’t be easy.

  • Our run in does look pretty scary. But we have proven over 30+ games that we can mix it with anyone.

  • There are no easy games when you get to the business end of the season.

  • We've gone from "I couldn't watch that every week" to "Why don't they want to watch that every week".

  • Decent-ish performance tonight. Kone and Udoh make such a difference when they play together although Udoh should have had a hat-trick and we let a really poor Burton off the hook. At least we had a bit of a swagger back.

First time I’ve heard the Alex Lowry chant. Hang your heads in shame if you sing it.

  • Best performance since October I thought. Great shape. Fantastic positional rotation. Everyone performed well.

We appeared to have done some work on positional shape on the ball and brought both full backs into unusual positions. Reach very high at times likes a winger, with Leahy tucked in at LB and Udoh allowed to play next to Kone. Very effective, with their RB unsure who to mark. Likewise, Grimmer picked up some nice positions, including the one from which he hit the post.

Surprised the Burton keeper didn't go down after 10-15 mins to allow them to reset their marking. They seemed to sort themselves out a bit by around the 35 mins mark, forcing Norris into a few longer kicks.

Burton didn't offer much and seemed to allow us an age on the ball. At times we literally had the man on the ball marshalling 2 or 3 teammates into position to allow us to build a move from the back. I can't see many teams giving us that much time on the ball in the remaining games.

interesting snippets here on not seeing Reach as a left back long term and thoughts on Magnus and Lowry

  • I'm getting more and more resigned to us getting pipped by Wrexham. Not because of anything we've done. More because they've received an inordinate amount of luck this season

If you actually watch them (as I have four times over the last few weeks), you realise that they're not even very good. There's very little skill or technical ability in that team. I think they're about 15 points better off than they should be, but almost every little thing has gone in their favour over the course of the season. Howler refereeing decisions in their favour every other game, a slew of completely undeserved wins, a never-ending stream of last minute winners

It's astounding, and I think their promotion is written in the stars / by Hollywood I'm afraid

  • Special mention for Grimmer tonight too, I really did think he was excellent. But they all had very good games, well done lads!

  • Utterly irrelevant references to Bloomfield, suggesting a man who gave over 20 years of his life to our club doesn’t care about Wycombe and we don’t care about him and all we care about being Alex Lowry. A new low.

  • Yeah that is a shit one, think I’ve worked it out now. Classless.

  • It’s not a good look. Open mouthed gum chewing is a rare sight these days, fortunately.

  • Yea I was worried those were the lyrics when I heard it on TV. Hopefully doesn’t catch on.

Speaking of watching on TV, I can’t really say much as I have a ST and didn’t go but wow that attendance was poor. Just over 3400 is that right?

  • What i would say on the run in, thankfully we play Bolton Charlton Orient and Stockport as the last 4 games. fingers crossed the majority of teams have already secured their play off position and will be resting players for that while the others are too far away to make it. Wishful thinking hey

Looking at the run in I expect we will need to go up a level, but if we get promoted that’s also the case. Let’s relish these big upcoming games- based on last night we’ve got the quality throughout to go on a winning run, and we stand up well against all teams in this league. We were close to Birmingham who’ve steamrollered- I’d rather focus on our results than worry about others.

    Poor crowd thread please.

  • We should be proud of a small crowd in the same way that followers of bands like to say that they where at the gigs before the band sold out.

3,400 for a team that will soon be playing in the Championship is like Fleetwood Mac playing Wycombe Town Hall in 1968. One to tell the grandkids.

  • Over 12 hours since the game finished and a match day thread with only 139 comments. You love to see it...

  • Obviously it should be "He doesn't play for Rangers or Celtic cos they're shite..."

  • Did that gig actually happen or was it just rumours?

  • Yes, it intrigues me that we get far more posts when we’ve lost or played poorly than when we’ve won or played well. You know we’ve had a good performance when the biggest criticism is for MD’s gum chewing technique!

  • Other than more away supporters what makes you think a midweek game in the Championship will bring in any more? Especially if we're struggling. Sadly it's not easy to attract new supporters - how many people in our catchment area opted for Arsenal on the telly last night rather than a visit to their local club?

  • I’m sure a few opted for Wycombe on the telly rather than actually go to the game.

  • You'd imagine all champ teams would sell the away end,so that's 1800 for starters. You'd assume we'd try and find a way to give them more as well, 200 in the main stand or even the end block of the Frank Adams, though that could cause more issues than bring benefits.

We'll have a reminder v Wrexham how slightly uncomfortable it all feels round the local area with 7500-8500.

Will certainly need more than 1 bus exiting!

  • I think the away day to Birmingham would have had a direct correlation to the attendance for the Burton game just three days later. And also, I’ve just spent £35 in Tesco Express for basically f*ck all so also cost of living still has an impact.

Gone are the days of £2.20 pints of Stella (it was reassuringly expensive in those days) up the Live and Let Live and then skidding down the woods to AP

  • Removing iFollow has taken away a barrier that would've made people more likely to go. I don't live that close to Wycombe and have Sky. In previous seasons, I'd have considered the 10er for iFollow and thought 'I'm already spending money, so may aswell go out of my way to get to the ground'.

Now, it's much easier for me to watch at home mid-week, and there's not even a mini-discussion I need to have over whether I should go or not, as I've already paid for Sky.

If a number of fans are making that same decision, as getting to AP after work is a bit tricky, they'll probably stay at home. That's a large factor in the low attendance.

  • We stand near the home dugout and I have noticed that Mike covers some distance walking back and forth his area continuously. Mike seems a really decent guy as well and he always has time for the young fans who want a photo or autograph etc.

I think Mike’s substitutions last night were spot on and I was very impressed with Lowry who is going to be a really decent player. As Mike said in his after match interview, Lowry needs to learn to do the other not so exciting duties but he certainly is very skilful and reminds me of when we first put Anis into the first team.

The future looks really good with the squad we have and Mike appears to be a very good coach and people person.

    COYB!!!!!
