  • You generally expect some sort of improvement though, even if it's in apparent greater effort from the existing players or a different style, if not immediate results.

  • I didn't neccessarily mean Luton but even when new players arrive they cannot be assumed to turn things around.

The lazy assumption with Luton was that it was a false position and they would climb right up the table by doing things a bit different, add in players who were maybe out of favour and didn't like the old manager giving a bit more , defensive reorganization and a signing or two and they probably shouldn't be anywhere near the drop...but they weren't down there due to luck, they lost most weeks in the division above meaning no settled side or accountability and probably have a few players who think they belong in the Prem. If they've lost all sense of reality and hard work it'll be harder for Blooms than QPR were for Ainsworth, and he'll be the guy who didn't really do much at little Wycombe rather than the bloke who got two promotions.

Two or three wins and he's a hero but scraping safety when they probably shouldn't even be in that battle won't save him if a bigger name comes available or he starts next season badly, and if there aren't any green shoots of recovery he won't last another month.
