The beginning of this derailed thread was the age old argument between Labour and Conservatives and whether or not the politics of club owners has a direct bearing on how they run their club. I maintain that it doesn’t, others think it does. I’m getting back to enjoying football and I will leave political arguments to the so called experts.
In an attempt to get back to football, surprised that no one has mentioned the late equaliser for Bristol Rovers last night that prevented Stockport getting to within 3 points of us, albeit having played 2 games more. Also, Luton are now bottom of the Championship.
Ever now and then politics escapes from the not football thread it’s a bit like weeds in the lawn you think you are in the clear and then look down and there it is
Intrestingly it appears a growing number of Luton fans think Bloomfield is "out of his depth" and there is mounting criticism and questioning of his abilities . It appears the flack he got here during the 17 game winless run was not a sign of Wycombe fans being uniquly fickle as some have claimed . Give it two more losses and they will be positively baying for his blood .
I think some people on here think some people on here said/thought/claimed things they didn't and state it as fact.
For whatever reason Matt went, I'm sorry to see him having problems without the safety net of Rob Couhig saving his job.
I seem to recall that most people were alarmed but willing to give MB more time than others, but I would not say anyone was unaware of the problems we could all see in front of us and would have been shocked if he got the tin tack.
There's never been a more impatient time with football fans, everything has to be "now".
But even still, being about 5 games in should be way too early for anyone getting sack thoughts.
Luton isn't generally a fanbase where someone's first reaction would be they're a calm, reasonable bunch though.
At least he has the security of a long, presumably lucrative contract if the worst does happen. And he'd be leaving as a championship manager and probably has enough credit in the bank to come back into a decent l1 job.
However, he'll get a nice pay off and his playing style and age is the right side of 50 so he'll still be seen as an attractive option compared to others
Ultimately they chose the wrong guy in my opinion . They needed a David Moyes type to get them out of trouble . Bloomfiled was never going to be that and will need a couple of seasons to turn it around . I think he let his emotion cloud his judgment in wanting to go there . Should have bitten his lip until the summer . Worst case he would have got us to the play offs and had that on his CV rather than a potential relegation.

A warning from history:
In the past this may have led to another long thread diversion about did he go was he pushed was it his choice why did he go there Dan Rice this Bloomfield that...I would like at this relatively early stage to hope we've all moved on. ☺️
They didn’t do their research. They needed someone to hit the ground running, not someone who needs 9 months to slowly turn the ocean-going vessel around.
Keep Shrewsbury up this season and then get them promoted twice, i.e make them a top flight side? I will give you generous odds, minimum stake applies.
I am always puzzled by how new managers are expected to automatically bring about a large improvement in teams that have been failing without new players being brought in. They don't have a magic wand so while it may work sometimes that can't be assumed.

“became disastrous from 2017” yes austerity before then was a delight that affected few rugby fans. Embarrassing.
Oh God three more pages of "not football".
I'm still laughing at Pol Pothole. Quality.
I would have thought Al*n Sm*th would have been an enthusiastic fan of social Darwinism.

Butch with the assist.
This should be on the Other Football thread.
This thread is for politics and cheese.
Bloomfield is having a tough start. Need a win soon.
And scored by Swinkels who was linked to us at one point in the window.
’Move on’!
You mentioned Luton, so just getting in there first.
There was much revelling in the former on other threads.( like "other football").
And a few wistful comments about the latter.

The Politics delusion.
Thanks, didn’t realise that.

Only 5 games in and the fans are getting disrespectful.
(Wallace and Gromit is about cheese so we're back on topic)

He may well have a relegation on his CV and then a sacking if next season starts badly .I would have thought his list of suitors will be small .

There's levels.
Sacked from championship should still get a job lower down.
The big risk was if it hadn't worked at Col Utd, as then he might have ceased to be as a manager.

QPR's loss is Shrewsbury's gain. If a manager finds another club that suits their skills and attributes, there is always a road back.
L1 - Championship sacking - L1 is the new Wycombe way.
Gaz kept us up and then took us up 2 divisions. He couldn't do it with Shrewsbury, could he?!
