I hear you. But there was something magical about our promotion team and the amount of written off players we had in that squad. Whether it be Alex Samuels, Bayo or Darius these were guys who were discarded for one reason on another and it made that night at Wembley so much more emotional. Dare I say IF we get over the line this time it will be amazing but not as magical. And it is the first time in my memory where our entire being is so fragile. Something happens to our owner's fortune and we are done.
Are we done if that happens? Surely we would be very attractive to the host of foreign investors who seem to be constantly circling football league clubs?
I think most of us are mystified why the latest owners bought us in the first place. Best league performance (bar the Championship season), declining crowds. We are hardly a sleeping giant. And as with all these things its about timing. ML walks without notice we are likely to implode before a new party comes along. And as we are little Wycombe I suspect the same amount of fuss would be made as it did for Maidstone back in the day rather than questions in the House of Commons.
I do worry about ‘the ground’. It really doesn’t fit within the new club structure, as MB didn’t fit as the Head Coach.
Purely left field thinking here but could ML move location / stadium where the club plays its matches leaving the trust the owners of Adams Park but without the WWFC club attached to it?
Instead of the substantial investment of finding a suitable site for a new ground, getting planning approval, building it…..how about ML making an offer to purchase an existing stadium from a club in distress? 🤔
…AFC Wycombe “Phoenix club” owned by the trust and a community club from the bottom of the pyramid OR Rugby returning here full time? They used to get big crowds regularly.
Lommy is renting/buying training grounds in London and it wouldn't be that much of a shock if he did something similar when Adams Park is too small for his plans.
Chelsea are supposed to be leaving Stamford Bridge at some point......
Our away following seems to be growing. It would be interesting to see the geographical distribution of fans at away games. I think we must have a sizeable following in the north west.
Is it that much of a mystery? We're near London, two promotions from the Premier League, no significant debt, a good name within the game with a fairly compliant fanbase.
The only good suggestion I can think of is that the trust sell the ground, and put the money it into a high yielding trustee savings account, to be used if ever required to save Wycombe Wanderers from bankruptcy, or to found a phoenix club.
Does anyone know if there's an actual mileage rule about how close a club has to be to the original area?
I'm sure they legally stopped the MK situation of taking someone else's club happening again, but if it's your own club can you move it 20-30miles away?
Not sure why you take such a pessimistic view of the future. For starters, why would Lomtadze spend so much money on the academy (10-15 new staff with lengthy contracts, 5 year lease on the training ground, massive upgrades at Harlington including £1m pitch etc) if he didn’t intend being in charge for the long term? Also, his fortune is apparently listed as 3.5 billion pounds so it would need Armageddon for that to disappear and even if it did we would still be an attractive proposition to any potential buyers.

Still makes me very uncomfortable knowing we are spending the numbers we are spending on players. Exciting though it is.
Finally I think we'll have to drop the old "Little Wycombe" moniker.
But if we had sold Kone we would still have shown a healthy profit on transfer fees.
Exactly this.
As exciting as the new signings and challenging for promotion is, we’re completely at the mercy of our owner choosing to continue funding us.
Otherwise we’re in exactly the same situation as Reading.

Things were fragile when Hayes left and even more fragile under the supporters trust. Every club operates on a knife-edge now.

Which is why it was always vital for Adams Park to remain in Trust. There will always be a home for Wycombe Wanderers whatever happens.
That brings to my mind a question as to what exactly would the Trust do with AP if ML decides to build a new ground elsewhere?
Oxford will need a new ground in 15 months.
They are deep in the mire, could be the new Brighton.

Buy the Kassam and finish it. The seats are already the right colour.
Rename the club Wycombe Wandered?!

Little Wycombe ends if we get promotion. For the time being small home crowds and a savvy media team can keep the image going for a bit longer.
Not a huge fan of us spending big transfer fees, or spending high wages.
The main joy under the Trust was punching above our weight after bargain hunting.
The club is becoming more of a product now, though it still has that element of magic about it.

Isn't there now an FA or EFL rule about clubs leaving their home town or city, to stop another MK situation?
I was thinking about this the other day.

Permanently, not just while work is done etc.

And we were "cheap as chips" in terms of purchase price.
According to "Forbes" latest figures his current wealth is actually $5.8b
Someone might have said the same about Roman Abramovich and his billions
Last time I looked Chelsea were still in business and doing rather well in the PL so I don’t see your point.
I have no reason to think ML is anything but committed or honourable. But external factors are external factors.
ha ha......a toddler could see his point
