I suggested posting discussion about the Birmingham match on the FA Cup thread but that wouldn’t be right either. But conducting it on the Morley thread just arouses interest about the outside possibility of his return which is then immediately quashed. It isn’t going to happen now, in any case.
We’ve moved on. Those wonderful MB lineups which took us to the top will now be manipulated to incorporate all the new signings. It will take a month or two for them to gel and my fear is that the potential loss of impetus will significantly reduce the chance of automatic promotion. But let’s look on the bright side. The new players and the formations the new Head Coach goes for should be well established by the time we go to Wembley in the playoffs.
We already suffered a bit of a loss of impetus over the final 3-4 weeks under Blooms. Admittedly it was far from an awful run of form, but it was not the form of promotion winners either. It would be hard to separate any potential future loss of impetus from that.
Besides, we have a pretty favourable fixture list over the next six weeks or so. I think it is probably the perfect time to bed in new players and a new manager
I was hinting at the beautiful irony of the current multi-million pound investment in new players potentially disrupting the unprecedented success that we’ve all been enjoying, resulting in a temporary downturn in results sufficient to reduce the ultimate achievement from automatic to playoffs. I balanced that with the positive suggestion that the new players would have gelled sufficiently by the end of the season to be strong enough to win the playoffs.
You make very good points. I had forgotten our loss of impetus due to the Bloomfield to Luton discussions. Maybe that loss of impetus contributed to Bloomfields decision to go to Luton, we will never know.
I apologise if I went OT. My (pipe) dream of Morley returning is shortly coming to an end and I’ll have to find another player to have the name on my new Wycombe shirt as my old one no longer has any evidence of the Hummel logo (thanks Hummel) so this thread will shortly be dead to me 😂
I'm looking forward to the official 'Morley Cannot Come Back Here' day at this point. We all need to let it go as a teen crush that did not work out long term!
We need our new handsome giant Dane #2 to put in such a big performance that Mr Morley is mentioned as infrequently as Longwjk at Huddersfield was mentioned after Taylor's impact.

Not looking likely he’ll be joining you now guys as there doesn’t seem to have been even a ripple of news about either outgoings or incomings here, a pretty hiring day all round. Of course anything can happen in the last few hours but you’d think if there was anything brewing somebody would be in the know? Anyway it doesn’t look like it so good luck for the rest of the season and I’m really hoping you do it through the automatics and pip the Hollywoods.

I think the change of manager kills off any potential move
I’d already booked my train ticket for the Mar 1st game against Brum but would be happy to sacrifice that for a longer FA cup run.
