Always thought Jay Rodriguez was a top quality striker, at 35yrs of age he will help add some youth to their squad as well. Reported to be on 15K a week, tidy.
Worry not @Malone he'll sign it a couple of days after he's got his League One Championship medal...then someone will offer 20 million. Everyone happy.
Just needs to get us up and score a couple of goals then that value will definitely go up. And being under 24 we can't lose him on the cheap anyway.
If I understand correctly, as long as we've offered a deal that was rejected (which that tweet suggests), then the tribunal amount would be set at least at what the bid has already swollen to.
unless we take our chances at a tribunal in the summer of 2026…anyone have any ideas what the record compensation has been awarded for a player out of contract?!
TBH it'd be far more surprising if Kone did sign another contract right now. The lad has the world at his feet and no one is going to begrudge him a move in the summer if he commits to us in this window. Let's just hope he can get us promoted first!
Read elsewhere he has rejected “multiple” contract offers for an extension.
Now, there two schools of thought here:
we are desperately trying to get him to sign a contract that he has no interest in. Or;
Theres negotiations going on and offers going to and fro which he has rejected so far, but is open to extending because other wise he would have told his agents “it’s not worth either of our time, I’m not signing anything right now.
I’m hoping it’s leaning toward the latter with the Championship in mind knowing he can get a bumper deal from us if we get promotion.
Would have been surprised on the eve of an away game tbh.
Does feel we have focused on getting some game time for players within the squad that need/deserve some these last couple of days and opening up the squad for a replacement or two if the right deal is there on deadline day.
Given our intentions in the transfer market so far this month, I would expect at the very least another full back, defensive midfielder and attacker, possibly more if anyone else left.
The departures of Butcher and Hanlan have surely been made with the intentions of freeing up squad places.
Exactly, we've got a load of new players that havnt even made the bench yet, there might be some room for them now. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two were to turn up, but then another one or two could still leave as well.
Maybe who ever down thumbed you may have not agreed with term ‘high calibre signings’, as I think a few of our gasroomers are not that convinced by Sam Smith at all.
Don’t take down thumbs out of context @Konetheming

We're not going to sign Morley

More concerned by the "rejected a new deal" line.
Yeah - I think summer is as far as we go with Kone, sadly.

Great, now we have to think about swollen bids.
Sounds painful.
I dare say swollen bids are mere memories for 90% of the gasroom.
Isn’t his contract to June 26?
Yes - I just suspect if he is turning down extensions, we will need to sell in the summer to avoid him leaving for nothing.
This has always been the most likely scenario anyway.

Or at least I can dream.
No incomings. Nothing happening tonight then?
3 more days yet

Wrexham been very aggressive with some high calibre signings.....hopefully we still have a good bit of business to do

Another 4 signings?
Would it not make more sense that the recent outs are to counterbalance the 5 or 6 signings we've just made?
When you say it out loud, another 4 signings does sound mad. Yet also plausible. It’s been a mad window

Hearing a whisper that we might have made an approach to Colchester United striker Samson Tovide.
I think he’s out injured at the moment not played since before Christmas
Could be smart business if the expectation is that Kone is off in the summer
Seems like a good prospect and would benefit from working within our coaching structure with Sam Grace etc.
thumbs down for what?? some people are a joke lol
Gratuitous use of a full stop
