  • As others have eluded to, it was a pleasant surprise to learn that Sam has history at Wycombe. The article stopped short of calling him a fan but still painted a pleasant back story. Did it make today’s victory even sweeter? Most certainly so!

We’ve had a few victories this season where you’ve thought ‘yeah, that’s gonna be an important one’ and today felt like exactly that.

  • In the context of the season that is a huge win.

Perhaps a touch hard on Mansfield again. But I'm not complaining.

  • Always nice to win when not playing your best and we were not at our high standards of earlier in the season. We created so many good chances but equally they fluffed their lines in front of goal far too often.

Kone continues to impress. Misses a shot by a mile and there’s no sign his confidence is impacted. The penalty was interesting as players pushed him to take it - literally.

Declan will get such a schooling playing alongside Sunny and he improved as the game went on. Attacking headers bravely as they pushed and pushed.

All in all a good day at the office. Saturday will be again massive after we see the impact of Wrexham v Birmingham. A chance to have a huge gap or a chance to go top?

Really really impressed with Sam Grace - his post match interview, the guy seems like the type who you would want to play for and he gave some refreshingly honest and open answers.

Grimmer was about to come off before the goal as he had tightened up, and he wasn’t 100% for today’s game.

Phil also asked him about Lubala and Harvie and again, he gave an honest answer.

  • Tremendous result. Really shows how united the players are after a tough week. Sonny again was magnificent. Would love to sign him at the end of the season.

  • As we enjoy our summer repast, planning trips to Ewood Park and St Mary’s, we’ll look back on today as a vital part of our season.

  • What on earth was all the fighting in the home end about? Several punches thrown at their own supporters in the safe standing section. Barely a steward in sight. We've had horse punchers now we have stag punchers!

Seemed to come out of nowhere when McCleary scored.

  • I was told by a Wycombe staff member when watching from The Legends Lounge at AP that when a penalty is being taken the electronic perimeter boards have to be switched off. Watching Kone’s pen back the boards were flashing cars and all sorts of nonsense- no wonder the lad missed , cool recovery to slot home the rebound though.

  • Twice this season I've not been able to watch - twice we've got a late winner away from home. And Kone just one off being L1 top scorer!

  • God I love this club. Never expected Wrexham and Huddersfield to both drop points. Fantastic result to win away against a top side in a week of total madness. Delighted.

  • Didn’t see the match, how did Anders look / do when he came on?

    Excellent result 👌

  • Not sure he even touched the ball so don’t think any judgement can be made

  • With a team that knows exactly what it is doing and quite a few players who are 'leaders of men' it wouldn't be that daft to give the job to SG until the end of the season.

I'm sure he wouldn't cost much and he won't cause any trouble. Add a video showing him as a toddler going to the FA Trophy finals and it will cement the idea of 'family' and 'continuity' which would keep Dan Rice's email folder empty and have this place looking like a K-pop boyband forum.

Come on Lommy, you know it makes sense!

  • He did. And completely scuffed his first attempt before booting it away on the second attempt. I think we can forgive him that, he must have been like a rabbit in the headlights with a ‘welcome to English football’.

  • Did anyone see the hairdryer treatment Sonny gave Skura after Mansfield equalised? I’m sure Dec will come away from this tough game a much better player than when he came on, having Sonny as a team mate and a leader, money cannot buy.

  • I got to celebrate the winner in an Oxford pub. Probably barred now.

  • I thought this at stages today. Mainly due to the fact that all of the players we’ve heard from this week have made a point of saying how tight-knit they are, it does make me wonder whether they actually need a ‘traditional’ manager / head coach for the rest of the season or if introducing a new leader into the equation may actually upset the balance a little bit.

As long as SG and co-staff are tactically astute enough to keep things fresh prior to games and keep up with opposition managers within the games themselves, then I think the team are probably self-managing enough to see it through themselves.

  • Interesting celebration from Garath McCleary after scoring the winner. He lets out a guttural scream, seemingly letting out a lot of anger and frustration in the process.

    Cathartic as @williwycombe said.

  • Love these boys.

  • What an amazing way to finish off a tough week, those scenes at the end show we have a real togetherness in this squad and some proper leaders, it’s a joy to see.

I thought Sonny Bradley was signed as back up but he’s got to be one of the first names on the team sheet now, absolutely immense again. If Low is off though I think another CB is crucial, Dec probably isn’t quite ready and hard to judge the new guy based on a few minutes. All in all though a decent away performance against a good side, just what we needed. Bring on two home games now probably with a new manager in the dugout.

First time I've seengutteral used since someone genius coined "gutteral roar" to describe that Torquay moment.

Though we'd have loads of top moments from that game

Bloomy fist pumping the air with the game still going on.

Gaz jumping onto the crossbar etc.

  • 2 quality interviews by @bluntphil after the game, loved the response from both Sam Grace & GMac & the attitude displayed & discussed augers well for the rest of the season.

    #Believe #COYB

  • Massive result and performance. Not at our best but fantastic team spirit. If we can keep the King and the Danes can preform as well as the Ricicles believe their data suggests then this could be a special year. The possibility of a bad run of injuries is always there but with luck and the return of Sads and Jasper…

Also I am now in love with Sonny.

  • lol they don’t like it in these parts..

    which pub ?

  • Chequers - needed to make a pit stop and knew I could count on them to have Soccer Saturday on!
