  • TBF I didn't dislike them, I however recognised the ruthless business streak below the veneer of southern charm.

I thought overall Pete was a decent chap who became highly enthusiastic about us over the course of the enforced covid/visa sojourn in leafy Bucks and seemed to genuinely enjoy his time here.

  • Some Luton fans on their forum already moaning that he's got a three year contract.

'We'll give you a year mate, see how it goes...'

  • three and a half years

The major difference is that the Couhigs didn't come in and tell the playing staff how to do their jobs, or fire any of the backroom staff recruited by the incumbent manager. Rob Couhig also went out of his way to praise the job the manager was doing, and paid them the most basic courtesy of namechecking them in interviews. It is of course the prerogative of any owner to do so, though it is also the prerogative of everyone else at the club to make a judgement as to whether this is a positive development or not.

At this stage we don't know what the next steps are and whether these will bring success on the pitch for Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, though what we do know is that how the new ownership group have acted doesn't augur well for our club's proud record on fostering a fair, constructive and positive working atmosphere that we could be proud of by association as fans.

  • Sad times. Good Luck Matt at Luton.

Can dream of a GA, Dobbo, MB evening in the ground in 10 years time reminiscing over times long past.

  • All I know is, no matter what has happened I’ll be at Mansfield cheering the 11 players that come out. To me that is what being a supporter is about and what our team need. What goes on behind the scenes is not my concern and nothing I can influence.

I like the Couhigs. They could be bombastic (and I very much agree with @Erroll_Sims about the ruthless business streak), but you get the idea you could have a pint with them and an honest conversation about the club (as I am sure some of you did).

RC boasted when he took over that he would respond to any email within a day. I tested him on it, and got a response in two hours. I am not sure if he kept that up, but fans of most clubs would be blown away by that level of communication.

There were things to criticize - I did not like the jibes at 'idiot fans' for example - but even with that, you get the feeling it was coming from a very human place. They were around the club all the time, and behaved like absolute fanboys.

I will always think the best ever owner possible was the Trust, but the Couhigs were absolutely what we needed, when we needed it.

  • So Matt wanted to stay here, but had numerous interviews and left the first one offered. The owners wanted him to go, but expressed their disappointment that he's gone.

The thing is, no one, not even the ITK's ! Know 100% everything that has gone on, so everyone is just clutching at straws whichever way they want the story to go.

Unfortunately I have (probably like many others) in life found out during very personal/family situations , that there is always two sides to the story.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever see our fanbase and in particular the Gasroom so divided before!

  • Yep! Though thankfully, water under the bridge helps heal all wounds. Blooms and Wycombe can both still achieve this season, and I hope both do!

  • Really? The original gasroom existed in a state of more or less perpetual guerrilla warfare.

I’m not sure I can be bothered with it all any more. The likes of Dan Rice have turned modern football into a bore fest.

it won’t be long before they are moving WWFC into another identikit stadium miles from High Wycombe.

I think I might just find something else to do and leave Mr Rice to bore his way through endless meetings going through the data analysis , before putting out a bunch of identikit players tippy tapping their way through another dull game.

  • It seems very evenly split this time. The Danuard fan club is certainly fighting back strongly after early losses against the luddites.

    😊

Except for almost very matchday thread, the Couhig takeover and most of the Championship season...I agree.

Blooms has just stressed in his BBC3counties interview how pleased he is that he will be heavily involved in the player recruitment process.

  • I think we all remember the 'Trust Meeting September 12th' thread from years ago very fondly, too. That was a humdinger!

  • On Bloomfield leaving I wanted him gone ten months ago so can’t moan about him leaving now , he will obviously be paid more and well compensated if he gets the boot but leaving at this moment he’s dropped us right in the do do , but we will have to brush ourselves down and go again

The king is dead long live the king onwards and upwards to the championship

  • That was a point of contention here wasn't it? A few people have mentioned it.

  • Everyone should listen to that interview especially his message to Wycombe fans at the end.

  • I don't think second in the League is leaving us in the doo doo myself...especially as we will get statistically the best coach in Europe to take over.

  • 30 odd pages later bit of a catch up , first things first good luck Matt hope it works out for you although it maybe very hard for you, I hoped you would wait to the end of the season . I heard second hand of course indirectly from the club that things were not right behind the scenes in particular clashing with Dan Rice . Now i’m not blaming the owners and team behind the club as I don’t know Matt personally or Dan . Sometimes we do find individuals we can’t work with doesn’t make either person at fault it’s life it just happens . There is no doubt Matt was thinking about this precise scenario some time ago I think in hindsight the clues are there .

Not sure if this link will take you to the right place. If not I'm sure a recording will be available on BBC3CR at some point.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_three_counties_radio

Message to Wycombe fans is at 18.13 ish

  • Anyone listen to that interview still need more evidence of a disagreement with Rice?

  • Why it’s become such a polar issue I have no idea. It’s quite possible to praise Dan Rice and respect Matt Bloomfield. And vice versa. There’s no team Dan team Matt. They can both act in what they both believe are the best interests for themselves without agreeing. Go team shades of grey.

I have been kept amused by ITK Top Trumps today though. No no I’m REALLY in the know. Noooo I’m REALLLY REALLLY in the know. Well I shouldn’t say anything but I’m REALLY REALLY REALLY in the know. Good work all.

  • The new guy will have to jump on the ground running or we will drop out of the promotion picture not be like Bloomfield and change everything to quickly and drop like a stone
