He was at the Cambridge game in person this season, too, well after ownership had changed.
He also made a comment implying he reads the Gasroom, which as we all know puts you in the 1% of the most nuanced, well-read, and pun-skilled Wycombe fans!
Yes, whether he was in the UK for COVID restriction reasons, visa problems, or love of the club, we can't be sure but he did stay that whole time barely seeing his family
The Couhig period was far, far better than most of the detractors would have it...and of course after several years they could say 'I told you several years ago he was just in it to sell at a profit...'
No-one thought he was a cuddly benefactor (as the years of posts criticial of him would attest) but he bought into the culture to a degree (or at least could fake it) and left us in a better position than he found us.
The worrying thing about the new people is we sort of have no real idea what their agenda is...but perhaps time will tell. we'll have a great few years and we'll end up even more worried when we become Musk SpaceX Wanderers.
I still can't believe some of the dislike for the Couhigs on here. They're not your most conventional football club owners for sure, but overall they were a huge net positive for WWFC. I personally think Pete is a very good man with a genuine enthusiasm for the club
I was one of those herberts questioning Matt’s management when he had that slow start and he proved me wrong.
I am reading some pretty harsh comments about Dan Rice and it does seem that there was a difference of opinion between him and Matt but I’m reserving comment I try not to look a bell end after all the facts come out more than once a managerial cycle .
So I wish nothing but the best for Matt he’s earned my respect for the years of service to the club.
So my guess is we’re going to get a foreign coach not manager and it’s going to be quick.
yes I know about twenty people have probably said that but I’ve got plenty of other shit to scroll through .
TBF I didn't dislike them, I however recognised the ruthless business streak below the veneer of southern charm.
I thought overall Pete was a decent chap who became highly enthusiastic about us over the course of the enforced covid/visa sojourn in leafy Bucks and seemed to genuinely enjoy his time here.
The major difference is that the Couhigs didn't come in and tell the playing staff how to do their jobs, or fire any of the backroom staff recruited by the incumbent manager. Rob Couhig also went out of his way to praise the job the manager was doing, and paid them the most basic courtesy of namechecking them in interviews. It is of course the prerogative of any owner to do so, though it is also the prerogative of everyone else at the club to make a judgement as to whether this is a positive development or not.
At this stage we don't know what the next steps are and whether these will bring success on the pitch for Wycombe Wanderers Football Club, though what we do know is that how the new ownership group have acted doesn't augur well for our club's proud record on fostering a fair, constructive and positive working atmosphere that we could be proud of by association as fans.
All I know is, no matter what has happened I’ll be at Mansfield cheering the 11 players that come out. To me that is what being a supporter is about and what our team need. What goes on behind the scenes is not my concern and nothing I can influence.

Is he, though?
I wanna see which gasroomers you put in each category
😎
He chose to stay in High Wycombe rather than be with his family during lockdown. That’s pretty significant.
Yeah I'm not sure he's watching every kick of the ball on Wycombe tv or whatever it's called now.
Committed to the job, for sure, but I don't like to think of any external owners as fans.

I don’t think he’s bought a season ticket or anything, but he seemed the most emotionally invested. He certainly had a good time.
Was he actually without his family through his whole period in Wycombe?
In fairness you were at a game this season in person too!
That’s always what I’ve thought.
Haha - touche! Though I messed up my seat numbers, so I was clearly not "all there" anyway. 😕
I'm pretty sure he had his family with him for at least some of the time.
Which would fit with the story about how he couldn't get the visa for them - as in renewed, rather than to set off a stay here.
It did allow me to monitor you from afar and decide if any of the fans you were chatting to were on the swerve list.
I met his wife once, but not sure if she was living here

The plan was for his son to come to the UK and play football wasn’t it? And they couldn’t get a visa for him.
Putting some hot water in the tea and coffee would be a start
Yep, came over for the same game as Shev not so long ago.
A decent strategy!
So which nom de plume is Pete C using on the gasroom?
Kipper the ITK…. Konetheming the Gasroom bad boy…. Shev the Yankee songsmith…. Or is it Kim-il-Swan the overseas satirist?
Pretty much. And he was a visible and approachable bloke too.
And he didn’t to my knowledge sack coaching staff without telling the manager.

Some Luton fans on their forum already moaning that he's got a three year contract.
'We'll give you a year mate, see how it goes...'
three and a half years

Sad times. Good Luck Matt at Luton.
Can dream of a GA, Dobbo, MB evening in the ground in 10 years time reminiscing over times long past.
