Portsmouth boss John Mousinho after losing to Wycombe in the FA Cup: “I haven’t said anything to the players as I didn’t think there was much point.
"There’s not much you can say about the performance."
I wonder if there’s still animosity between Wycombe fans and Mousinho? I’m sure he made some shitty comments about the club when he was at Oxford, and was booed when we faced each other shortly after. Or am I making that up?
Good confidence booster to get a comfortable home win after a few average results. Same goes for Hanlan and Bradley scoring. Fringe players and those building fitness/confidence are an important part for the squad. Really good to see them contribute positively when they are involved.
Bradley, Skura and Butch were all really solid and dealt with Pompey's attacking players easily. Although in fairness, the opposition offered virtually nothing so I'm not going to get too carried away there.
Bakinson to my mind was still fairly disappointing. I can't really see what he's bringing to the midfield at all.
Would like to see Kodua given a start on the wing. He's done really well in recent games but need to see if he can perform the real key job as a winger and consistently beat a full back over the course of a game.
Excellent work from the drummer tonight. An upbeat atmosphere behind the goal. More of the same please.
Who would have thunk it from that team on paper but what a good show our squad players put on even against a poor Pompey second string. What are we doing with Hanlan upfront says I just before he scored. Everyone went about their jobs efficiently...and nice to see Butcher getting minutes. Not sure I agree that Bishop deserves to replace Franco on that showing, as he had little to do. I really like Bradley...roll on second half of season.
Commiserations to George, he looked gutted.
Pompey fans out in numbers in arctic conditions was impressive too.
Good to see a much changed team perform so well and another excellent display by Bradley. I was as surprised as anyone when I read that Low was absent through illness but I was told that this was genuinely the case.
You can say that again! (An expression that always tickles me but I’ve stopped the repeats now.) My admiration of Gids, founded on his excellent performance and cracking goal against us for West Ham U 21s in the paintbox trophy a couple of years ago and reinforced by what I have seen in the handful of performances since, is well documented (get me!) and playing him as an adventurous right back was clearly a well justified decision.
I always felt he was slightly underrated as a player at Wycombe. He was a horrible bugger when we came up against him.
Comes across well in interviews and seems like a good guy. I've warmed to him over the years and no doubting he's done a great job at Portsmouth, albeit they were dreadful last night. I understand he lives very locally to High Wycombe still.
I think that's because for the FA Cup they announce the actual number in the ground, given that for a single tie the net entrance money is divided between the teams.
For a league game, a crowd of that number will have missing ticket holders included.
Sonny Bradley…what another great performance. What a signing and he reminds me a lot of Jason Cousins - the passion energy and leadership. I haven’t been so cold at a match for a long time, it was l8ke being in a fridge the whole game.
got to say a proper fa cup atmosphere too, Oliver who took the sticks on the drum really got it going. Supported the singing not drowning it out. Terrace was a joy to be in last night, need the same for league games now.
Yes me too. I remember being very disappointed when we let Mousinho go, he was a decent player, a bit like Butcher, in being a big unit who could get about the midfield.
We ended up playing him at right back I think which didn’t really suit him.
Yes he is a local boy, he’s from Amersham and went to Dr Challoner’s.
Coventry at home in 2017 was the coldest ever. And losing to a late mystifying penalty took the temp down an extra few degrees. At least our performance was warming last night

Good to hear Blooms putting to bed some of the more outlandish rumours we’ve heard this week:

Haha - I unignored you just to see if you had something reasonable to say. Off you pop back on ignore.
What a great attendance too. Especially given how cold it was. Long live the FA Cup.
@LX1 Outstanding. Performance of the season for the most important game to date?
Thought Butcher made a real case for a regular start.
235k in prize money banked so far, plus the Wealdstone TV money. Overall a pretty good run.
He looks and sounds like a man in total command now. Long may it continue.

I think Blooms might actually agree with you, I wonder if Butch has just moved above Bakinson.

This is only the third time we have entered the 4th round isn't it?
In 141 years
(Perhaps should have entered in those early years)

He did his best to win us over tonight.
First para did not age well @micra 😉

Welcome aboard @Bluermy.
Did you not consider @Bluarmy as your username?
That Shaydee likes a backheel. He did it about four times to no avail.

My apologies to him and Brandon Hanlan.

What will the conspiracy theorists have to say now?

Totally agree. Wasn’t just the aimless banging.
