I'm completely serious. Suggesting the signing of a player wasn't the choice of the manager is not disrespecting the player. I was using the example of Duberry to illustrate that experience isn't always a good thing. I was not comparing him with Bradley. Having an opinion on a player is also not disrespectful. You are completely reaching.
Incidentally I never accused you of disrespecting Bradley, what I said was that my assessment is that someone who has played over 400 league games, many of them in the Championship, deserves respect especially as he hasn’t even played a game for us yet.
Personally, I think the Duberry comparison is odd and out of context with the current time. But take your point that you don’t rate the new signing on paper, that is understood.
We need to chill the f-out, all this promotion anxiety and over analysis of every decision is draining. I’ll admit I’ve got a bit caught up in it myself. It certainly seemed to permeate the almost deathly quiet crowd in the first half on Saturday. Welcome, Sonny, it’s fun round here (honest!).
Think Sonny will be good cover but not sure he is the answer if we are pushing for promotion....we need someone like Lloys Jones if the owners get their chequebook out and are serious about promotion push...also need a passing MF...amazing if we could get morely back ...if we get these 2 really fancy top 2 nevermind playoffs
Do you really want honesty though? Not that you're alone as it seems honesty isn't really appreciated by a majority of Gasroom V2.0 correspondents unless it conforms to eulogistic, flattering and laudatory parameters.
I can see it now. Bradley is on the bench for the Huddersfield game, and comes on with the score at 0-0 after 75 minutes.
We win a corner in the 5th minute of added time, and Leahy curls in a left footed cross, which Bradley heads in at the far post to win the game 1-0. Scenes.
As mentioned above, I wasn't comparing the players. I was attempting to illustrate that experience isn't always necessarily a positive thing. Oh, and don't fret, I am calmness personified.
Aye, you're right, you didn't. I'm not sure I necessarily agree that simply playing that many games deserves respect, however there's no intention on my part to show any disrespect in this instance.
On the basis of knowing nothing about Sonny Bradley’s abilities regarding playing it out from the back I do wonder whether there may be some tweaking in how we play to take account of both the loss of Morley and Taylor but also the apparent difficulty we are having in playing ‘unambitious’ teams at Adams Park.
We still have two of the best midfielders in the League and a rotating squad of pretty decent forwards that should always be able to trouble teams, so I do wonder whether the second half of the season will see us play slightly differently.
I think you might be right. If we lose Morley, Taylor and Low in quick succession we will have to adapt very quickly and Matt will have to work a system with the players he has left. Losing three first team regulars in January would be tough for any team, but for a team chasing automatic promotion…it could be deadly.
My take on the negativity is that some people are still mourning the two dearly departed star loanees, while also getting Vietnam-style Keogh flashbacks (which has been indicated to a large degree). This is not that!
I actually feel relief more than anything - we are not going to have a significant run of games without an able Taylor replacement! If we add a decent midfielder it is all gravy from there (unless we sell Low, which we would handle in due course).
I could not agree more. Taylor could pick a pass once in a while (and do the pass around the backline thing), but he was hardly Pirlo! I think the stages of grief with beloved loanees has skyrocketed into the "remember them having skills they did not even possess" level.

So then, give us your honest assessment of Bradley and whether you think he’s a good signing?

Sonny's scary tattoos should be worth a few points this season. Just needs a teardrop under one eye to complete the set.
The last player we had with a front-of-neck tattoo didn't exactly set the world alight
How do you know he wasn’t the manager’s choice.? Where is your evidence?

Sad to see the Gasroom turning into the sort of goon-fest I’d more readily associate with Twitter or Facebook.
Hopefully it’ll revert to normality in February.

Let’s hope so it’s been a tough read tonight

Plenty of experience in League One and above. Two promotions from League One in the last 5 seasons.
We’ve signed a round peg to go in a round hole. Left sided CB who’s 6ft5 and gives 110% whenever I’ve seen him play. Leader as well.
Well done Matt!
Now for Morley back and we can get back to the top where we have deserved to be.
Regardless of whether I agree with your outlook (I do in this instance), you are by far the most eloquent poster on the Gasroom.

Leahy would actually need to put in a good delivery ...which happens once every 50 crosses....so there is hope

That's a very kind thing to say. Thank you.
Dreadful thread, this
Ps welcome to Wycombe Sonny. All my friends who support clubs you've played for before absolutely love you. That's good enough for me
Yay, I won my bet.
This gives us a different option at the back. We’ve shipped a few sloppy goals lately and maybe this signing will address that.

Left sided CB. 6ft5. Experience of promotion from this division.
I recall him being good for Luton against us.
Seems like a sensible signing.
Nice to have a Yorkshireman at the back
I can’t decide if this is a good signing or not. Guess we will just have to give him a chance won’t we?
'Stylistically' we need an experienced centre back. At this stage, I don't care if he hoofs every ball halfway down the pitch if we keep clean sheets.
