  • Him and Morley gone within 24 hours. A challenging start to an extremely important transfer window...

What a player he's been for us, though. Hope to see him getting some games for WBA, and not just sitting on the bench.

  • Gutting to have the core of this team taken away from us. No doubt Blooms and co. will have planned for such an eventuality, but if we do drop off the pace now it'll always feel like a what-if moment.

Still, excited to see who comes in. We must have a great reputation now for bringing young stars on.

  • We feared it, but still a big blow seeing it on the page.

You back the management team to find a good solution, but it won't be that easy.

Hope Taf has been kept in cotton wool for this eventuality and can play a few games while we're working it out.

  • I feel Skura could also do a decent job for us whilst a replacement for Taylor is found.

  • Interesting that @bluntphil asked if this was the end of his time at Wycombe, or if it was a case of a new manager assessing his squad. Naturally, he can only play for us or West Brom for the remainder of this season, so let’s see where we are at come the end of the month. Never say never.

  • Does surely mean no way we can accept the bid for Joe Low unless Caleb can be brought back

  • Oh fuck.

  • Not sure this is true. Killian Phillips was loaned out after he left us.

  • Low has to stay now, even if it means we lose him for nothing at end of the season. What a great pairing him and Caleb have been

  • Very sad news.

    Announce Lonwijk, eh, @LeedsBlue?

  • He went to Aberdeen didn’t he? I wonder if that makes a difference. No one seems to know exactly what this rule is!

  • I don’t know for sure but I believe Phillips hadn’t played for Palace so he was eligible to represent a second club.

  • And of course, it’s unlikely that Killian played for his parent club that season as well.

  • @our_frank He would slot in brilliantly on that left side, for sure. But I can’t get those kind of hopes up… My heart is only now starting to mend from his departure (although when I saw he wasn’t in the Huddersfield line up a few weeks back I did start to imagine some crazy scenario - after all, he hasn’t played for Wolves this season). In all honesty, though, Nige seemed best suited to the LWB role.

And I’m still dealing with the loss of Aaron too. Difficult times for supporters of a club with so many special young loanees.

  • Gutted. Feel bad now at the lack of chants for Taylor to stay.

  • Gutting. Superb loan spell. Superb player.

  • Great shame, but we got to see some great loanees this season and they will have treasured their time with us...which can only be a good thing in the future.

Being good in the loan market has it's own pitfalls I suppose....at least our top scorer has not been recalled mid-season to warm somebody's bench.

  • Thanks Caleb, maybe we might see you back in a few weeks if WBA sign more CB's or get back one of the two injured CB's.

If not then I'm excited to see who we bring in, maybe Lloyd Jones from Charlton who's out of contract in June and 29 years old or Harry Williams from Walsall, also out of contract in June but only 22. Could we get in another loaner in Sil Swinkels who signed two contracts with Villa last year, the second in November after huge improvements after an ACL injury kept him out from March 2023 to April 2024. Swinkels has been on the bench in four of Villas Champions League games this season.

Long term I'd like Williams from Walsall but short term Swinkels could be the man, maybe we will sign both??

    Exciting times.

  • A huge loss for the club and hopefully one we can replace quickly and effectively. However, looking at WBA's problems that are developing at CB, it was the logical step to get him back and ready to go for them. Lets just hope that it isn't Low vs Taylor at corners this Sat for WBA vs Swansea

  • Caleb did a brilliant job for us and I hope the young lad gets his chance in the WBA first team.

    Good luck Caleb.

  • Good luck to Caleb who has been brilliant for us.

Hope to see him back in a Wycombe shirt before too long.

  • Someone said the players were pointing at Taylor after yesterday's game, when the focus was on Morley.

So it's been known, but clearly all the talk was on Morley, and probably served zero purpose making a big thing about Taylor before hand.

  • The best central defender named Taylor we've had on loan from higher up the pyramid. But only just.

  • Best for contribution to the cause for certain.

    Not on quality.

Steven Taylor should have been at least a regular England squad player, we shouldn't underestimate his quality just because 20 years have passed.

  • You would have thought that with all the reliance on data the club seems to be basing all its decisions on, we surely would have factored in the possibility of Morley and Taylor going back to their parent clubs in January and what we needed to do to cover that possibility. So I would have thought we must have things in place. I hope replacements are in quickly as we have a lot of games in January. We are in an amazing position in the league and it’s an opportunity we cannot afford to miss. Interesting Bloomfield mention Dan Rice has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Perhaps he’s the new Scott Mitchell as well as other roles he has within the club.

  • Not a good couple of announcements but feel we are a long way from the window where Bryn Morris, Randell Williams and others were all recalled and left us very short.

Not comfortable reading WWFC mobile notifications at the moment but I'm not turning them off just yet.

Caleb was excellent btw and will be very difficult to replace, wish him well, but this shouldn't be the end of our season.

Any Prem / champ development types lurking be aware we are basically alchemy FC, Eze couldn't even do kickups until he came here...

  • Might be a chance for Ward and Bartolo to get some more first team apps until new faces arrive and they go back out on loan, as they're supposedly both back from Weymouth at the same time Morley and Taylor have left and could fill space on the bench in the short term. You'd expect everyone to be working hard to find reinforcements though.

  • And also, not sure there is any room on the bench? We already have about 8-10 players who can't even get on the bench - 3-4 will be injured, but there's not much room.
