As was shown at the fans forum Jack is an integral part of the ‘management’ team with a clear connection from Dan to Matt to Jack. We need to maintain leaders in all departments as this massive upheaval to our club happens and young players comes into the fold. Losing so many leaders at the start of last season coincided with our dip in form and we can’t make that mistake again. He may not get the minutes over the next season and a half but that won’t be his value. Plus he’s still a really decent player.
It was definitely one of GAs mantras that, in addition to bringing in new talent who fitted the profile, it was essential to ensure you looked after the talent already at the club.
I see this as very much part of the same philosophy. This new contract will not only reward Jack for his contribution to the club but it demonstrates to others that this is a club where you can, given you apply yourself properly, establish a settled position for many years.
For players in their early 20's, whilst acknowledging that they may desire to progress to bigger and better things¹, it's important that they also see WWFC can be a home for more than just a 2 year contract. For some with, or thinking about, a family this is also important.
Aaron, Joe, Caleb, Cam, Richard ... are you getting that vibe?
Fantastic interview with Grimmer after today’s game. He’s such a good role model. A lovely bloke. Astute and well-spoken. He seems to have grown in confidence multifactorially since he signed for us. A player I’m so proud to have as ours. A vital part of our team.
It was interesting to see the mass celebration of the contract extension versus recent talk of being the "weak" link etc.
Signing your captain on gives a good feel about the place for sure, and he's still more than a solid player in my eyes, but just interested to see the reaction from some versus recent opinions.

Fantastic news. Congratulations Jack.
A positive move. Any chance of us knowing the length...?
Good news! A great player and ambassador for the club.
Fantastic news & a welcome New Year's Eve pick me up
Quite agree. And (with emphasis) he still looks about 16.
Well deserved. Next player to get a testimonial hopefully
Yep I'm pleased with that, well done Jack !
I was worried he was going to be off to star in the live action TinTin movie, so this allays some fears.
Kevin De Bruyne has that part sown up
The Belgian national team actually playing in TinTin colours this year has got to be the greatest trolling of a player on record.

1 - clearly that's also possible with WWFC.

I was about to post something similar.
If we consider ourselves a Championship club in waiting…
whisper it “Jack ain’t up to it”

Could be back to centre half by the weekend. Well worthy of a place in the squad if not a guaranteed starter at RB every week.
Happy New Year!
When we got into the Championship for the first and only time at the end of 19/20...whisper it...Jack Grimmer played for us.
