You can watch the game on Sky Sports+ (red button) or NOW TV. I believe because it's a cup game, it can't be broadcast on Wanderers TV. @bluntphil , please correct me if I'm wrong on that front.
To watch it on Now (they've dropped the TV) you will, indeed, need to have a Sky Sport subscription package with Now. But it works perfectly well - and the Now App is available on smart TVs as well as tablet & phone so you can watch on the TV.
It looks like @Twizz has answered your question. I’m afraid I don’t have NOW (thanks for the correction Twizz!), so I wasn’t sure.
As we seem to be on TV more often this season, I’m attempting to list the channels along with the matchday threads where I spot them to help out our wonderful Gasroom community. Inevitably, I may miss some throughout the season. That said, according to the EFL website (the link I attached in my previous message), it states the following:
"Non-Sky Sports subscribers can watch every game by purchasing a NOW Sports Membership, which can be accessed through the NOW app on all compatible TV, mobile, tablet, computer, console, and streaming devices. See here for full details."
You can watch on a laptop by logging on to the SkySports.com website via a browser @Midlander.
The log in process was a bit tricky with Captchas, and it initially didn't want to accept my password - but perseverance paid off - also the first time it might say you have to install a video player.
Eventually it did work to watch some of Luton v Burnley last night.
This was a trial for tonight, as I can't watch via Virgin Media on my TV until I upgrade the V6 box.
They really do need to combine them and kick out all PL teams, whether senior or U21. Make the EFL Cup about the EFL, and give the winner a Europa Conference spot.
I know PL teams "move the needle" but I think I would be more interested in a competition we would have a (however slim) chance of winning with a really significant prize at the end of it. There are still plenty of big clubs in the Champo anyway. Imagine a semi lineup of something like Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland v Wycombe!
The day pass is a horribly expensive way of doing it at £15 or so? At least with a month pass you can fill your boots with 100s of other games and sports over the coming month
Apart from the luxury of being able to watch on a big tv over your laptop, what extra do you get over the Now tv monthly deals that are between the £19.99 I blagged (long story) or the £26 they even offer out to all?
Would solve your laptop issue if you're away a lot, can watch on your phone too, and I dare say you can fairly easily plug your laptop into your tv anyway?!
Along with the 10,000+ other households and their household items. Yes. My personal consumption is my decision. I’m sure Apple and Microsoft aren’t stealing your data for their advantage either.
You need to read the next sentence as well @drcongo, which I believe is very significant. It says ...
"You can’t get the Sky Sports+ Red Button, though, so if that sounds like something you want then it’s super-simple to upgrade your Virgin TV box."
I tried extensively to access other games on Saturday without success. Fortunately Wrexham v Wycombe was the featured game, so shown on Virgin Media CH508.
Tonight VM CH508 is showing Preston North End v Sunderland. I'm fully expecting the Wycombe game, and others, tobe on the red button.
Everything I'm reading on line - except that line you quoted - tells me that I have to upgrade my VM box software.
You can watch the matches on your phone via the sky sports app, that's what I did on Saturday. Save the good Mrs Holmer from having to watch it on the television. Just go on the app, go to the watch button and all the matches come up. You might have to log In, I did, couldn't remember my password so changed it, all in all took me about 2 mins and I was on the game

Audio only on WTV
Hi BSE
Do you mean ordinary NOW TV or does it require a Sky Sport + add on via NOW TV i.e. a purchase?
As a possible alternative, if one uses a vpn, is it not available via WWTV in the normal overseas manner?

Hopefully, this helps!
Away with work tonight so working out how to best watch this.
I’m a Sky Sports subscriber and I’m robbed to the tune of roughly £150 a month by them.
As I understand it you can only get “red button” Sky Sports+ games on Sky box, mobile and iPad (I don’t have the latter). But not the laptop.
Is there any option to watch this without paying £15 for a now tv day pass?
Had a quick look at their forum. Nothing much about us as the general mood is that this will have a very low turnout due to being on Sky.
It does feel like the EFL Cup is about as attractive as the BSM Trophy nowadays.

@BSE, I only found out Now had dropped the "TV" during my research last night. It was news to me too!
@Twizz According to this page, your Virgin box "can get all the action on Sky Sports+ on CH 508 in HD (or SD on CH 518)"
Luton v Burnley wasn’t on the red button. It didn’t work for me on either Friday or Saturday.
They really do need to combine them and kick out all PL teams, whether senior or U21. Make the EFL Cup about the EFL, and give the winner a Europa Conference spot.

So if I buy a NOWTV Day pass I go to sky and just press red and select the Wycombe game tonight.
Or can you place yourself via VPN somewhere else and do Wanderers abroad hack as normal.
Your suggested work arounds are appreciated chair people

Will do that then, Thanks @Malone
Christ, is it £15 for a day pass now? I remember when it was £10 and that was justifiable for a big TV game but not for a 1st round EFL Cup tie.
Not sure how much we’ll learn tonight but if Butcher comes in and plays, expect the clamour to go into overdrive.
Sky TV for £150 a month! My dodgy box is £50 a year!
I'd love to see that happen to, but i think the EFL make a lot of money out of the Premier League clubs' participation.
That does include TNT, extra box and WiFi subscription but yes too much and needs to, at the very least, be renegotiated!
Not normally away for more than 2 or 3 nights a month so paying something monthly for something I rarely use not worth it.
I watched the Wrexham game on sky sports+ via Now on my TV. It cost me £14.99 for a 24 hour pass.
It also has access across your network to every phone, laptop and computer in your house. I'm sure it will be fine though.
Along with the 10,000+ other households and their household items. Yes. My personal consumption is my decision. I’m sure Apple and Microsoft aren’t stealing your data for their advantage either.
Some people voluntarily install Instagram too.
Teach me your ways, oh holy one!
Interesting line up. Hopefully two keepers will offset the lack of a striker.

Northampton. Home of shoes.
Is this forum Dr. Martens boots or Church's brogues?
