I am one of the, possibly, very few that was at Wembley in 1957 and have attended all the matches since then (not the Arena games) but might miss this year due to a grandson's birthday (he will be 1).
Surely your grandson needs to go so that in 100 years time he’ll be able to say ‘I’ve been to see Wycombe at Wembley 59 times. I only missed the first 7’
Didn't got to the 5 a sides, watched those in a pubs back in town. Been to all the Wembley finals with fans since 91, so this will be my 6th. I'm actually on holiday, but have just booked an early morning flight back from Vienna on the Sunday. Was coming back that day anyway, just much earlier than intended!
A part of me (a part I am not at all happy with) would love to see us sell around 500 tickets (I know 174 would be better) just to have Alan Swann’s head implode at how little we care as we comprehensively take their neat little faffing about at the back to pieces and claim the trophy in front of their 10s of 1000s of fans.
My eldest so will be gutted, he was 3 months old for the Kiddy final, I had big arguments with the lovely Mrs Fit to drop. I wanted to take him to Wembley but loosing arguments started spring 1991, and continue to this day. He has done all the others. I missed Southend due to a prior engagement. I did attend both 5 a-side nights.
Certainly not, although I did very briefly bump into him at the Parliament Square entrance when I worked in parliament for a few months last year (I was back for a drink with some old colleagues last night). I can't recall exactly what I said, but I know I definitely brought up the Chairboys
Only the ones against Runcorn and Southend but before 1957 semi-finals at Brentford and Doncaster are good memories although we lost each time to Bishop Auckland. My football attendance always depended on other sporting activities but for many years I lived within easy walking distance of Loakes Park and when floodlights were installed rarely missed a weekday match. I won't be at Wembley due to other responsibilities and no longer being able to battle through the crowds.
Has Richard Kone been given enough credit for his assist by the way?
First of all he has to win the ball back but then after creating a bit of space for himself he drops in an absolutely perfect pass to Matt Butcher. It was a brilliant pass
It was also pretty much the only tackle we won all game! I don't think I've ever seen our players tackled so much. I mean credit to Bradford, but when you see someone like Scowen losing the ball to the opposition so regularly, you'd have to say the pitch was a big factor in our performance.
But yes, good tackle from Kone and then the awareness to look up and make that pass was great to see. I might be wrong, but did he also put in the cross for McCleary and our only other chance of the evening? He does seem to have a good cross on him, someone who can create goals as well as score them.
Crosses, flick-ons, great movement off the ball and the striker’s knack/instinct of being in the right place in the opposition area at the right time. Heads out of defence sometimes as well.
I think perhaps you need to ease off a bit. He looks a great prospect but he is miles from the finished article yet. Let's not heap too much pressure on him.
I agree that the mudbath was the primary factor in us being dominated. It puts me in mind of this article from the future.
"Airborne Rovers were delighted at pushing Wycombe Wanderers close in their FA Cup tie, which was played on the unique non-league pitch made out of trampolines. Though Wycombe complained about the surface and the ball being made out of seventeen pillows stapled together, Airborne fans insisted that it was "the same for both teams" and that Chairboys supporters should stop whining."

"it wasn't even the best goal we scored that day"
Excellent stuff @WanderingDays.
It's nuts to think this will be our 7th time at Wembley in 33 years going back to 1991, having waited 34 years to return after 1957.

I doff my cap to you sir! Although seriously your grandson will have more birthdays whereas we can't guarantee to get back to Wembley. 😁
It occurred to me that our very own Len Worsley may be in the exclusive group as I believe he still attends Wycombe matches.

It is easy to forget that many Wycombe fans did "attend" the Oxford final...as cardboard cutouts! Surely you get credit for that!

This means nothing to me
It's a day out with a football match thrown in, eric
Haha! Yep, I have that earworm every time I fly in and out of Vienna!

He was there in 1957?!
I think the London 5s was on ITV. edit. I was wrong the last 3 were on sky.

Is Paul Goodman going to be the first Chairboy in the House of Lords?
Did lol
Doh! Very good. Totally missed that one.
Ultravox Vienna?

What’s not to like?

Totally agree Eric.

I mentioned it at the time and have been surprised it hadn't been getting more attention. It was outstanding.
eric plant 'great tackle and cross there'
Kone 'Thanks eric'
eric plant 'Hey don't get above yourself, lad, you're not George Best you know.'
